ALFREDO JAAR RECEIVES THE 65th EDWARD MACDOWELL MEDAL
Chilean-born visual artist, architect and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar is this year’s recipient of the 65th Annual Edward MacDowell Medal, for his outstanding contributions to American culture in the field of “Visual Arts.” His poetic photographs, films and elaborate installations confront the greatest socio-political issues of our time, including genocide, the displacement of refugees, war, corruption and economic inequality.
EFG LATIN AMERICA ART AWARD: FIFTEEN YEARS CELEBRATING THE ART OF A REGION
This 2025, the EFG Latin America Art Award celebrates its 15th anniversary, consolidated as one of the most relevant recognitions of contemporary creation in the region. LEILA TSCHOPP: ARTEBA'S WINNER FOR THE EFG LATIN AMERICA ART AWARD
In its 14th anniversary, Leila Tschopp is the winning artist of the 2024 EFG Latin America Art Award in partnership with ArtNexus. The announcement was made at Pinta Miami.
PINTA MIAMI: LATIN AMERICA FROM NORTH TO SOUTH
Pinta Miami celebrated its 2024 edition from December 5th to 8th, 2024 with more than 16,500 visitors, 45 galleries and 14 countries present. The fair at The Hangar, Coconut Grove led to good sales –where over 90% of the galleries reported sales– and enthusiastic overall attendance providing a true exchange between private, public spheres and opportunities for artists and galleries.
CECILIA VICUÑA & JULIAN CHARRIÈRE: INAUGURAL ERIC AND WENDY SCHMIDT ENVIRONMENT AND ART PRIZE
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) announced two winners of the inaugural Eric and Wendy Schmidt Environment and Art Prize: Julian Charrière (b. 1987 in Morges, Switzerland; lives and works in Berlin, Germany) and Cecilia Vicuña (b. 1948 in Santiago, Chile; lives and works in New York, NY and Santiago, Chile). Each artist will receive 100,000 USD and institutional support from MOCA to develop a commissioned project addressing the critical intersections of art, climate change, and environmental justice.
ANTONIO PICHILLÁ QUIACAÍN: THE ARTIST NOMINATED FOR EFG LATIN AMERICA ART AWARD AT ArtBo
Antonio Pichillá Quiacaín was announced as ArtBo's nominated artist for the EFG Latin America Art Award, the company's annual acquisition award. The winning artist will be featured at Pinta Miami 2024.

Fundación Ama Amoedo is pleased to announce the Grantees for its second edition of the Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants. With more than 2000 applications, 10 projects were selected in the categories: Artists, Art and Social Engagement, Organizations, and Publications. Each Awardee will receive support of 10,000 dollars for the research and development of their proposals. ADRIANA ALMADA AND FÉLIX TORANZOS: AWARDED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF FRANCE
Last Thursday, September 26, a ceremony was held at the French Embassy in Paraguay, where Ambassador Pierre-Christian Soccoja awarded art critic Adriana Almada and visual artist Félix Toranzos with the Order of Arts and Letters. Both were part of the third edition of Pinta Sud | ASU.

The International Association of Art Critics in Paraguay (AICA-Py) awarded the AICA 2023 Prize to the exhibition Cuadernos de campo (Field Notebooks) by Fidel Fernández, curated by Adriana Almada and exhibited during Pinta Sud 2023 at the Arte Actual gallery in Asuncion.
ALFREDO JAAR WINS 2024 MEDITERRANEAN ALBERT CAMUS PRIZE
The jury of the IV Mediterranean Albert Camus Prize –composed of Javier Gomá, who acts as its president, and N’Goné Fall, Miquel Molina, José Luis Pérez Pont and Anne Prouteau– decided to unanimously award Alfredo Jaar the 2024 edition prize.
