The AM11 international prize brings visibility to a practice rooted in collective experience and a sensitive engagement with the landscape.

The international award expands its network of partners and recognizes 43 artists through prizes that include residencies, exhibitions, creative commissions, and collaborations with cultural institutions and companies from eight countries.

Chilean-born visual artist, architect and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar is this year’s recipient of the 65th Annual Edward MacDowell Medal, for his outstanding contributions to American culture in the field of “Visual Arts.” His poetic photographs, films and elaborate installations confront the greatest socio-political issues of our time, including genocide, the displacement of refugees, war, corruption and economic inequality.

This 2025, the EFG Latin America Art Award celebrates its 15th anniversary, consolidated as one of the most relevant recognitions of contemporary creation in the region. Within the framework of Pinta Lima, one of the fairs where the selection of nominated artists takes place, the impact this award has had on the visibility of Latin American visual arts is highlighted.

In its 14th anniversary, Leila Tschopp is the winning artist of the 2024 EFG Latin America Art Award in partnership with ArtNexus. The announcement was made at Pinta Miami.

Pinta Miami celebrated its 2024 edition from December 5th to 8th, 2024 with more than 16,500 visitors, 45 galleries and 14 countries present. The fair at The Hangar, Coconut Grove led to good sales –where over 90% of the galleries reported sales– and enthusiastic overall attendance providing a true exchange between private, public spheres and opportunities for artists and galleries.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) announced two winners of the inaugural Eric and Wendy Schmidt Environment and Art Prize: Julian Charrière (b. 1987 in Morges, Switzerland; lives and works in Berlin, Germany) and Cecilia Vicuña (b. 1948 in Santiago, Chile; lives and works in New York, NY and Santiago, Chile). Each artist will receive 100,000 USD and institutional support from MOCA to develop a commissioned project addressing the critical intersections of art, climate change, and environmental justice.

Antonio Pichillá Quiacaín was announced as ArtBo's nominated artist for the EFG Latin America Art Award, the company's annual acquisition award. The winning artist will be featured at Pinta Miami 2024.

Fundación Ama Amoedo is pleased to announce the Grantees for its second edition of the Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants. With more than 2000 applications, 10 projects were selected in the categories: Artists, Art and Social Engagement, Organizations, and Publications. Each Awardee will receive support of 10,000 dollars for the research and development of their proposals. The winners are: Alejandro Cruz (Uruguay), Clara Esborraz (Argentina), Ana María Montenegro (Colombia), Davi Pontes (Brazil), Instituto Tele Arte (Chile), Museo MARC (Argentina), Aldeia-Escola Floresta (Brazil), Archivo de la Memoria Trans (Argentina), El Flasherito (Argentina), and Claudia Martínez Garay (Peru).

Last Thursday, September 26, a ceremony was held at the French Embassy in Paraguay, where Ambassador Pierre-Christian Soccoja awarded art critic Adriana Almada and visual artist Félix Toranzos with the Order of Arts and Letters. Both were part of the third edition of Pinta Sud | ASU.

Fifteen artists working across the United States and Puerto Rico have been awarded the 2024 Latinx Artist Fellowships by the U.S. Latinx Forum (USLAF), with $50,0000 in unrestricted funding and a year-long program of professional engagement opportunities.

Arte Laguna Prize is a contemporary art competition for artists of all ages, nationalities and artistic backgrounds, regardless of gender and with free subject matter. The competition offers numerous opportunities for participating artists to expand their network, gain international visibility and access valuable resources for the development of their careers. The International Association of Art Critics in Paraguay (AICA-Py) awarded the AICA 2023 Prize to the exhibition Cuadernos de campo (Field Notebooks) by Fidel Fernández, curated by Adriana Almada and exhibited during Pinta Sud 2023 at the Arte Actual gallery in Asuncion.

The jury of the IV Mediterranean Albert Camus Prize –composed of Javier Gomá, who acts as its president, and N’Goné Fall, Miquel Molina, José Luis Pérez Pont and Anne Prouteau– decided to unanimously award Alfredo Jaar the 2024 edition prize.

Argentine artist La Chola Poblete received a special mention at the Venice Biennale 2024, selected together with artist Samia Halaby.

The EFG Latin America Art Award, in association with ArtNexus, announced Miguel Aguirre as Pinta PArC's nominated artist for the award.

The Italian-born Brazilian artist Anna Maria Maiolino and the Paris-based Turkish artist Nil Yalter are the recipients of the Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement of the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia - Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere.

The EFG Latin America Art Award, in association with ArtNexus, announced Eduardo Berliner of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as the nominated artist for its annual acquisition award. The award will be presented at Pinta Miami 2024.

The EFG Latin American Art Award, together with ArtNexus, announced Fernanda López Quilodráan from Santiago, (Chile), as one of the finalists for the annual acquisition award, whose winner will be announced at Pinta Miami during Miami Art Week.

The CINTAS Foundation announced the 2023-2024 Fellows for the programs of: Architecture & Design, Creative Writing, Brandon Fradd Music Composition, Sondra Gilman González-Falla Photography and Visual Arts.

EFG Latin America Art Award, in collaboration with ArtNexus, presented arteba 2023's nominated artist. Iosu Aramburu is one of the finalists for the annual acquisition award, which will be announced at Pinta Miami during Miami Art Week.

For the second time at the Costa Salguero Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the arteba Foundation held a new edition of its contemporary art fair, where artists, gallery owners, collectors, curators, cultural referents and a massive public attracted by a renewed proposal converged.

The Luis Caballero Award is back for its twelfth edition, which since 1996 has recognized the work of Colombian artists of long trajectory, becoming one of the most important incentives for the creation and circulation of art in Bogota, Colombia.

Guatemalan Journal 1987/2023] is the winning project of the second edition of the Julius Baer Prize for Latin American women artists. The winner Ana Gallardo, together with María Us, presents the exhibition at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO).

Artist Alba Triana received the Prix Ars Electronica 2023 – Award of Disctinction in the category of Digital Musics & Sound Art.

The Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College (CCS Bard) announced that Adriano Pedrosa, Artistic Director of Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), will receive the 2023 Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence. 

ARCOmadrid ended its 2023 edition with a strong presence of Latin American galleries and artists, more than 93,000 visitors, and works that move and challenge.
