MAC Lima has inaugurated Contemporáneo 1. Materia :: Alchemy :: Device :: Flow, an exhibition poised to become a landmark for contemporary art in Peru. The show, the first in a series of biennial exhibitions based on the museum's collection, brings together the work of over 100 local contemporary artists.

Through the idea of an endless spiral, this exhibition at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) unfolds as a reverse retrospective of artist Magali Lara (Mexico City, 1956), beginning with two murals created especially for the show and tracing back to her earliest drawings from the 1980s and 1970s.

The sincere fiction crafted by the Argentine artist captivates and steals the voice of those who come to see it. Honest and raw, it reveals the indelible traces of history.

The exhibition, which opened on November 28, 2024, presents for the first time a family collection of great significance to Peruvian history, consisting of portraits, religious paintings, and various objects. These pieces allow for an exploration of different aspects of life in the viceregal court of Lima during the 18th century. 

The terraces of the Nouvel Building at the Reina Sofía Museum are being transformed into a new exhibition space. Under the title A Different Order: Utopian Geometry and Kinetic Art, the space will showcase two sculptural works by Jesús Rafael Soto and Edgar Negret, along with a third piece by Martín Chirino.

The Frye Art Museum announced the appointment of Rafael Soldi and Stephanie DeVaan to the Board of Trustees; their official term began February 10, 2025. Their addition expands the board to eleven members. The exhibition I Am Godzilla at Moderna Museet Malmö is the Argentinan artist's first in Sweden, showcasing over 350 works, both new and older, many of which are being presented for the very first time.

The São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) presents the exhibition Serigrafistas Queer: Liberdade para as sensibilidades (Freedom for sensibilities) from December 13 to March 16, 2025. It addresses themes such as the struggle for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, the political approach to the HIV crisis, and the celebration of diverse affections and identities.

The Met’s bold new vision for the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing –to be opened at 2030, presenting Modern and Contemporary art– is designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo, the first woman to design a new wing in the Museum’s 154-year history.

Malba announced that Rodrigo Moura (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, 1975) will be the museum's new artistic director. With a solid background in important cultural institutions and an internationally renowned Latin American curator, Moura will be responsible for giving the museum visibility and presence on a global level, broadening the understanding and scope of the Collection and developing the program of temporary exhibitions at Malba and Malba Puertos.

Simpson and Vanessa German: IT INCLUDES EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS; the first solo museum exhibition of artist Cici McMonigle Creatures for the divine; and Vicious Circles, the first exhibition in the United States dedicated to artist Jacqueline de Jong.

Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) presents Coordenadas claras para nuestra confusión (Clear coordinates for our confusion), by artist Julieta Aranda. This exhibition proposes to review the artist's production of the last decades from the perspective of her collaboration with time, understood not only as an object of research but also as an autonomous and active interlocutor. It is curated by Alejandra Labastida.

Sol Calero (Caracas, Venezuela, 1982) uses the guanabana, a fruit endemic to Central America and the Caribbean, to symbolically instrumentalize the creation of a representation of the feelings of belonging, home, everyday life and stereotypes through the wide conquest of the spaces of the Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, transformed for the occasion into visual and popular references of a well-known and recognized Latin America.

Nebulosa de la calabaza is the title of the first solo exhibition presented in Spain by Tabita Rezaire (Paris, France, 1989), an artist living in French Guiana. Renowned for her use of new media and multidisciplinarity to explore the relationship between contemporary worlds transited from technology and their relationship with the most ancestral and spiritual environment, the Guyanese-heritage artist focuses her production on activism from the perspective of denunciation from feminism and decolonization as key points.
