The Frye Art Museum announced the appointment of Rafael Soldi and Stephanie DeVaan to the Board of Trustees; their official term began February 10, 2025. Their addition expands the board to eleven members. DeVaan brings extensive nonprofit board experience as well as connections to both the tech and film communities, and Soldi is the first working artist to join the museum's board.

Pinta Lima is the most important contemporary art fair in Peru, presenting in its 12th edition a solid program that celebrates the diversity of the Latin American artistic and cultural scene. Located at Casa Prado in Miraflores, Lima, the fair is an essential event where a network of artists, galleries, curators, and collectors from the region connect with the international scene.

The exhibition El incondicionado desocultamiento: las experimentaciones audiovisuales de Rafael Hastings (The Unconditioned Unveiling: Rafael Hastings’ Audiovisual Experimentations) has opened at the ICPNA San Miguel space, offering a revisit of the Peruvian visual artist’s filmic work.

The renowned artist Moico Yaker returns to the exhibition halls with a solo show after six years to present Conversaciones en el zoológico (Conversations at the Zoo), while Rafael Pascuale explores the relationship between the body and fragility in Espejos de una humanidad perdida (Mirrors of a Lost Humanity).

The intervention Wasi Llamkha (Place and touch), by artist Andrea Canepa (Lima, Peru, 1980), stands on the South Patio of Madrid's Condeduque. This pavilion, designed as an ephemeral architectural structure, invites us to explore its sensorial value, far from the preeminence of the visual, and claims, by way of inspiration, the quipus, the forms of representation and recording of information from pre-Columbian Peru.

With an innovative perspective and a personal scenic language, KAY presents a play that reveals how the myths of the Amazon have been distorted to conceal the violence lurking over the women and girls of the region. The performance will serve as the closing event of the tenth edition of the prestigious theater and dance festival Temporada Alta, organized by the Alianza Francesa de Lima.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (MAC) is organizing New Horizons of Digital Art, aimed at young people and adults, as part of the public program of the exhibition Artware 9. Lima Digital Art Biennial.

The Hochschild Correa Collection boasts of being the most complete private collection of contemporary art from the Peruvian Amazon. Milan hosts an extraordinary exhibition marking the bicentenary of Peru’s independence, the 150th anniversary of Italy-Peru diplomatic ties, and the bicentenary of Antonio Raimondi, a Milanese explorer who greatly contributed to the country. Organized with the Consulate General of Peru, the display at MUDEC’s Agora highlights key moments in its liberation through museum artifacts.

Pinta Miami brings together artists who explore the identity, memory and cultural diversity of Ibero-America. In this 2024 edition, several proposals seek to redefine the Latinx notion from unique and transformative perspectives.

To paint the forest beings is the Special Project of Pinta Miami 2024. Curated by Irene Gelfman and Giuliana Vidarte, it brings together paintings by Shipibo-konibo indigenous artists with representations of the flora, fauna and cosmovision of the Peruvian Amazon to rethink the past, present and future of the planet.

April 2025 marks the arrival of Pinta Lima in its 12th edition. It will be held April 24-27 at Casa Prado, Miraflores, Lima Peru. Applications for galleries will be open until January 18, 2025.

Based on the biologicist theories on territoriality and the relationships derived from living beings with their immediate environment, the Angeles Baños gallery from Badajoz proposes an exhibition project to three Latin American artists so that, through their experiences and their personal vision, they can materialize and express those feelings of territoriality, and always from the parallelism of the human being with the rest of living beings.

Crisis Galería announced the recent acquisition of the painting Cosmovisión Huitoto (2022) by the outstanding indigenous artist Santiago Yahuarcani by the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA). This extraordinary large format work, made with natural dyes and acrylic paint on llanchama, is one of the largest produced by the artist with more than two meters high and four meters wide.

The Lima Museum of Art (MALI) announced the thirty-second edition of its annual auction, dedicated in this occasion to textile art, a heritage that played a fundamental role in Peru's cultural history. The event will take place on October 19 at the museum and will feature a selection of more than 70 pieces of art, from historic textiles to contemporary works.

From her different interdisciplinary perspectives, Cecilia Paredes (Lima, Peru, 1950) lands in Blanca Berlin with a collection of images that deal with imaginary cartographies, displacements and human relations in their conceptual part, materialized, above all, on canvas as the main exhibition material. In Historias errantes (Wandering Stories), the Peruvian artist bets on recovering graphic materials anchored in antiquity, such as astrological charts, engravings of discoveries and maps, which become, after the manipulation of the parts, absolute compositions of impossible -but also aesthetic- iconography.

Why highlight stories that often remain on the periphery of artistic discourse? Adriano Pedrosa justifies his curatorial decision with works by 331 artists -mostly from the global south- that open the way to powerful narratives. Finally, we see the axis being twisted. It is difficult to escape the white gaze, more so to move authentically through a Eurocentric space. Given this, the communicative reach of figuration serves to challenge the symbolic order of domination and destabilize the colonial project. The stories that are made explicit and the narratives of magic and everyday life help to recognize without revictimizing. 

The Artist Series by American Express is an initiative that supports the development of local artists. Digital artists, illustrators and graphic designers from Peru, emerging or young career, are invited to participate. Deadline to apply: July 15, 2024.

Álbum de Casi Todos (Album of Almost Everyone) is the solo exhibition of Chilean artist Pablo Linsambarth at the Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (ICPNA). It is curated by Daniel H. Rey.

Freedom First is the first solo exhibition that Fernando Bryce (Lima, Peru, 1965) presents at 1 Mira Madrid and is practically a declaration of intentions.

The Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo (MEIAC) in Badajoz is exhibiting, under the title Paisaje Transferido, a wide-ranging show by MartÍn Lopez Lam (Lima, Peru, 1981), one of the main exponents of graphic art in Spain, where he has been living for the last two decades.

Pinta PArC closed its 14th edition with more than 200 artists and 44 galleries. From April 24 to 28, 2024 at Casa Prado, the fair brought together curators, gallery owners, artists, collectors and art lovers.

Curated by Irene Gelfman, the Video Project section at Pinta PArC invited galleries to present projects that revolve around the themes of ancestral practices, community work, Amazonia and nature.

The Sculpture Garden is one of the characteristic sections of Pinta PArC. Located outdoors at the main entrance of Casa Prado and curated by Max Hernández Calvo, the proposal explores the relationship between sculpture, architecture and green areas.

The EFG Latin America Art Award, in association with ArtNexus, announced Miguel Aguirre as Pinta PArC's nominated artist for the award.
