OPEN CALL: SOLANAS ART EXPERIENCE ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2027
Applications are open for three residency editions aimed at mid-career artists from Latin America and the Caribbean. The deadline to apply is August 7, 2027.
Solanas Art Experience (SAE), the cultural platform of Fundación Solanas in Punta Ballena, Uruguay, launches a new edition of its Open Call for visual artists, seeking projects that bridge art, nature, architecture, technology, design, and material culture. The call is for individual applicants based in Latin America and the Caribbean with a sustained body of work: international exhibitions, works in collections, training, or previous residencies. Artists who have already taken part in earlier editions of the program are not eligible to reapply.
Three one-month editions will run during 2027: March 31 to April 28, August 10 to September 7, and September 28 to October 26. Three artists will be selected for two of the editions, and two for the remaining one.
SAE covers accommodation, meals, and travel, and provides a USD 300 production fund, shared studio space, and curatorial support. Artists pay a USD 1,000 residency fee. Each stay closes with an Open Studio, and resulting works may be included in a summer exhibition and in the Solanas Art Experience Collection, to which each resident donates a piece while retaining authorship rights. Site-specific projects intended solely for outdoor display are not accepted, nor are proposals focused exclusively on performance or audiovisual work.
The selection committee includes Daniel Mochón, Natasha Ygel, and Natalia Revale, alongside Mexican curator Jaime González Solís.
Applicants must fill out the application form and submit a PDF including CV, artist statement, portfolio, project proposal, timeline, and two letters of recommendation before August 7. Selected artists will be announced on September 28. For inquiries, contact SAE.
