PINTA BAphoto 2026, LATIN AMERICA'S ONLY INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY FAIR, RETURNS TO LA RURAL

From October 22 to 25, Pinta BAphoto 2026, the international photography fair, will bring together galleries, artists, curators, collectors, international guests, and institutions at Pabellón 8 of La Rural. Held annually in Buenos Aires, the fair traces a journey through different moments, geographies, and languages of contemporary Latin American photography, establishing a dialogue between the region's visual tradition and the medium's global developments.

This edition expands the fair's range of offerings — with spaces for both emerging artists and already established careers — and deepens its outreach to younger audiences, rethinking what an event dedicated to the image means today, in the 21st century.

Under the artistic direction and global curatorship of Irene Gelfman, Pinta's artistic director and global curator, the 22nd edition aims to elevate the quality of the photographic proposals on view and continue strengthening the fair's position as one of the leading regional benchmarks for contemporary photography. "The contemporary image is one of the most powerful languages for thinking about our time. This year, the fair seeks to broaden the perspective on the many forms the contemporary image takes today, revealing its capacity as a living record of past, present, and future," she said.

The fair's sections

Main Section

Curated by Gelfman, this section brings together a selection of national and international galleries representing modern and contemporary artists whose practices are shaped by photographic language, weaving together different generations, cultural contexts, and aesthetic narratives.

NEXT

Co-curated by Facundo Belén and Virginia Martín, artist-organizers from the city of La Plata, NEXT is dedicated to emerging proposals and new approaches to contemporary photography, creating a space of discovery for new voices and perspectives.

RADAR

Curated by Mercedes Claus, curator, researcher, educator, and exhibition organizer, RADAR is a research and experimentation platform focused on practices that push the boundaries of photography, bringing together projects that engage with other languages and disciplines and highlight the current transformations of the image.

ATLAS

Curated by Martín Bollati, artist, editor, and founder of SED Editorial, ATLAS brings together ten projects from emerging publishers and editions. The section offers a look at experimental publications — photobooks, artist editions, hybrid publications — as spaces where the book transcends its traditional function to become a vehicle for aesthetic, conceptual, and material exploration.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

The fair presents a series of special sections that broaden perspectives on contemporary photographic practice. Among them is a Special Project dedicated to Alberto Goldstein (Buenos Aires, 1951), a key figure in contemporary Argentine photography whose career has made a decisive contribution to the development of the medium in the country. Also on view will be a Special Project | Artista Homenaje honoring Abel Alexander, curated by Francisco Medail, a tribute that highlights the career and legacy of foundational figures in the history of photography. In addition, Video Project, curated by Gelfman, once again gives center stage to the moving image.

The program is rounded out by a diverse schedule of talks, activations, and initiatives designed to bring photography closer to a wide range of audiences. With the participation of international specialists, FORO will once again host talks on the market and collecting, fostering encounters, debate, and reflection on the photographic image.

With this program, Pinta BAphoto 2026 once again turns Buenos Aires into a meeting point for the market, collecting, institutions, and critical thought, cementing the city's position as one of the most dynamic hubs for the circulation and projection of contemporary photography.
