The Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Gran Canaria launches its season with Construyendo Colección. Últimas adquisiciones, a show featuring five works recently added to its collection. The exhibition includes pieces by Carlos Garaicoa and Karlo Andrei Ibarra, alongside works by Canarian artists Esther Aldaz, Teresa Arozena, and Yapci Ramos.

Garaicoa (Havana, Cuba, 1967) presents Untitled (La Casa del Niño) (2024), a site-specific installation made of balsa wood, glass, silicone, pins, thread, and black-and-white photography. The work continues his exploration of architecture, memory, and social structures, offering a critical reflection on the built environment.

Karlo Andrei Ibarra (San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1982), who had a solo exhibition at the museum in 2024, presents Borrón y cuenta nueva (2024), a metaphorical work about memory and renewal. Composed of chalkboard erasers and wooden panels, the piece uses materials linked to learning to reflect on the transformation of knowledge.

Through photography, sculpture, and installation, the museum reinforces its commitment to dialogue between European, African, and Latin American contexts while supporting contemporary local creation. This exhibition offers the public a fresh museographic reading of CAAM’s permanent collection, emphasizing its artistic and cultural value.

Construyendo Colección. Últimas adquisiciones is on view until April 12, 2026, at the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno
