VENICE BIENNALE 2024: THE BROAD PARTICIPATION OF ARGENTINE ARTISTS
The 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale –to be held from April 20 to November 24, 2024– presents 332 participants, including Argentine artists, in the international exhibition Foreigners Everywhere.
Strangers Everywhere (Stranieri Ovunque) is the Biennial's international exhibition curated by Adriano Pedrosa, with the participation of Argentine artists: Claudia Alarcón & Silät, Libero Badii, Elda Cerrato, Víctor Juan Cúnsolo, Juana Elena Diz, Raquel Forner, María Martorell, Emilio Pettoruti, La Chola Poblete, Lidy Prati, Kazuya Sakai, Mariana Telleria, Juan del Prete, Bibi Zogbé and Clorindo Testa.
South Korean artist Kim Yun Shin, born in Wonsan 1935, but resident in Buenos Aires since 1983, could also join the list.
"The expression 'Stranieri Ovunque' has several meanings. First, that wherever you go and wherever you are you will always find foreigners: they/we are everywhere. Secondly, that no matter where you are, you are always really, and at heart, a foreigner," Pedrosa said during an online conference, where he mentioned some of the names that make up the official list of artists.

One of the main axes of the 2024 edition of the Biennial is to promote and disseminate artists who have never participated in the International Exhibition, even if some of them have been presented in a National Pavilion, a Side Event or in a previous edition of the International Exhibition, Pedrosa explained during the conference.
The Argentine Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale
Luciana Lamothe (Mercedes, Province of Buenos Aires, 1975) was chosen as Argentina’s representative at the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, curated by Sofía Dourron.
Lamothe is a visual artist who works in sculpture, performance, activation, drawing, photography and video. The concept of her work focuses on investigating the softness of materials conceived as hard. She explores the dialectical relationships between their hardness and softness in relation to their resistance, as well as between the concepts of construction and destruction.
