PINTA MIAMI 2023 – A MEETING AND DIFFUSION EPICENTER

Pinta Miami 2023 closed its 17th edition celebrating Latin American art with artists, curators, collectors and a large number of visitors and art lovers.

PINTA MIAMI 2023 – A MEETING AND DIFFUSION EPICENTER

The fair was the ideal meeting point to learn about new artistic proposals and promote the acquisition and sale of works by established and emerging artists. For the second consecutive time, the fair was held at The Hangar in Coconut Grove, a place with a strong historical character that combines elements of nature, the avant-garde and art.

Pinta Miami continues to assert its position as an international event, attracting a large number of visitors eager to explore the diversity of the proposals. The high attendance at the lecture circuit and the presentation of the Open Files –a series of micro-videos in which artists tell in first person details about their work– positioned the fair not only as an exhibition space, but also as a vital forum for discussion and exchange of ideas. In addition, this edition stood out for its curatorial level and the quality of the proposals exhibited, which encouraged more than one visitor to return to the fair for more.

Through its awards, recognition and acquisitions program, Pinta Miami seeks to support artistic practice and encourage collecting through new and established awards.

At its opening event, Pinta hosted the EFG Latin American Art Award, whose finalists were selected from the arteBA, ArtBo, SP Arte, Ch.ACO and Pinta PArC fairs. The winner was Clemencia Echeverri, represented by Rolf Art Gallery, Buenos Aires. The works acquired were DESBORDE 2 and SUB_TERRA, part of her large-scale research Sin Cielo, which reviews the effects of mining on the landscape. It will be incorporated into the permanent exhibition collection at EFG Capital's Miami offices.

Once again, this year the NEXT award was given to the best exhibition proposal of the section with a prize of USD 2,500, selected by a prestigious jury made up of Laura Hakel (Curator of the Ama Amoedo Collection and the New Museum, NYC), Ella Cisneros (Collector) and Irene Gelfman (Global Curator of Pinta). The award went to the proposal of the galleries Bloc Art (Lima, Peru) with artists María Eugenia Moya and Ivet Salazar; and Crudo Arte Contemporáneo (Rosario, Argentina) with artists Nicole Mazza and Edgar Murillo.

For the first time at Pinta Miami, and in collaboration with sponsor Unicoin, a special mention was awarded to one of the five proposals in the RADAR section. The jury composed by Diego Uribe awarded the mention to Rosas Ek Balam Gallery (Mexico City, Mexico / Buenos Aires, Argentina) with artists Vicente Grondona and Max Gómez Canle. The jury selected the stand for its dialogue between the two artists based on different ways of conceiving landscape and painting.

In addition, Pinta Miami 2023 featured a series of Private and Public Collection Acquisition Awards from important and prestigious Ibero-American collectors to promote the dissemination and trade of Latin American and world art. Ella Fontanals Cisneros acquired the work "master of the sky" by artist Nicole Mazza from Crudo Arte Contemporáneo, from the NEXT section. Diego Uribe-Sandoval for his foundation acquired the work "Ampulheta" by artist Felipe Cohen of Kubik from the main section. And although the fair has already concluded, the Private and Public Collections Acquisition Awards program continues with more institutions in the process of acquiring works.
