LIGHT AND LIGHTNESS: CELEBRATING 10 YEARS AT JUMEX

Featuring works by 67 national and international artists, Everything Becomes Lighter is a thematic exploration in keeping with the current times. The exhibition at JUMEX considers the healing power of light and lightness as an antidote to the forces of darkness and heaviness that surround humanity today.

LIGHT AND LIGHTNESS: CELEBRATING 10 YEARS AT JUMEX

The title is inspired by the late artist John Giorno's poem Everyone Gets Lighter, life is transitory and ultimately immaterial. Light and lightness are powerful elemental forces of spiritual transcendence, clarity, renewal and rebirth.

The exhibition brings together diverse works from the Colección Jumex in a poetic meditation on the meaning of light and the manifestations of lightness. The artists have shaped the perception of what it might mean to "become lighter" through experiments with illumination and weightlessness, immateriality and humor, as well as freeing humanity from negative forces such as accumulation and waste. "Reduce, reuse, recycle" has become something of a new mantra.
