POWER AND FRACTURE IN THE WORKS OF PABLO SIQUIER
MACBA presents the exhibition Obsceno (Obscene) by artist Pablo Siquier, curated by Rodrigo Alonso. It is a collection of works never seen before in Argentina, which are part of the museum's collection.
"The paintings are frontal, direct, exhibitionist. They question the viewer by their complexity and excellent workmanship, but, above all, by the unfathomable mystery of the forms that inhabit them. Powerful and silent, these forms occupy an absolute foreground, generally suspended over a clean, ascetic space," explains curator Rodrigo Alonso.

Pablo Siquier (Buenos Aires, Argentina 1961) studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón and later at the workshops of artists Pablo Bobbio and Araceli Vázquez Málaga. He was part of the Grupo de la X, founded in 1986 with the support of sculptor Enio Iommi. With one of its members, Jorge Macchi, he currently shares a studio in the Villa Crespo neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
He was assistant professor of Graphic Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires, Forbes chair, 1999 and teacher of the same chair between 1988 and 1998. Since 2004 and up to the present, he has been an assistant professor of Bisollino, Painting Project at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (National University of the Arts).
Among the many exhibitions he has held, the solo exhibition at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid in 2005 stands out for its magnitude. He has also created murals and installations that can be found in various public spaces in the city of Buenos Aires.

THE POETICS OF CECILIA VICUÑA AT MALBA
