WEAVING THE INVISIBLE: MORENO AND ENRÍQUEZ IN DIALOGUE AT LA TERCERA NAVE

The exhibition (Re)weaving Memory establishes a fruitful conceptual dialogue between the practices of Linarejos Moreno (Madrid, Spain, 1974) and Vanessa Enríquez (Mexico City, Mexico, 1973). Curated by Mónica Sotos, the project unfolds throughout La Tercera Nave in Madrid, a space that becomes part of the conversation through its own industrial past.

WEAVING THE INVISIBLE: MORENO AND ENRÍQUEZ IN DIALOGUE AT LA TERCERA NAVE
Linarejos Moreno. Corte y Retroceso de Hilos

Although their formal languages may initially appear distant, the creative processes of both artists converge in their shared emphasis on the investigation of the present and of memory as key elements in the construction of a symbolic framework that also draws from scientific inquiry. The textile dimension—and the act of weaving in particular—emerges as a reparative and restorative gesture in the face of fragmentation.

Vanessa Enríquez works with VHS video tapes, redefining this obsolete medium and its magnetic qualities as the structural core of an expanded visual language. In its dual role as trace and record, the tape suggests a fragile and ephemeral memory, conceptually tied to notions of the imperceptible and the forgotten. Her practice explores the structures of a partially invisible reality, articulated through silence and subtle vibration.

Linarejos Moreno, continuing her sustained engagement with scientific and symbolic imaginaries, delves into the social, restrictive, and mnemonic readings offered by disused industrial spaces. Her photographs acquire the physical presence of installation through the incorporation of industrial and textile materials such as metal and burlap, intensifying the material dimension of historical narratives. Through this approach, she challenges the homogeneity of historical discourse and proposes anachronistic scenarios of memory that invite reflection on otherness.

Linarejos Moreno and Vanessa Enríquez. (Re)weaving Memory can be seen until February 22 at La Tercera Nave, Pedro Díez 25, Madrid (Spain).
