ART, CULTURE AND ENCOUNTER. SP–ARTE’S 19TH EDITION
SP–Arte 2023 will feature more than 150 exhibitors and an expansion of the design sector. From March 29 to April 2, the Biennial Pavilion welcomes national and international art galleries, design studios, publishers, cultural institutions and independent spaces.
This year, SP–Arte hosts exhibitors from eight countries –Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, the United States, France, Peru and Uruguay– and twenty Brazilian cities such as Belo Horizonte, Brasília and Fortaleza, in addition to São Paulo. For Fernanda Feitosa, founder and director of SP-Arte, the fair is an example of how art positively moves the city's agenda, boosts the entire chain of the sector and projects the country's image around the world.
This year, the fair celebrates the growth of almost 30% of the design sector in relation to the previous edition, now bringing together 44 exhibitors. Newcomers FAS, Guto Requena and Porfirio Valadares join participants who have been at the fair since the sector debuted in 2016, such as ETEL, ovo, Teo and Jacqueline Terpins.
The event also welcomes eleven international galleries. Among this year's foreign newcomers are Galerie Younique, Maât Gallery, Night Gallery and Nil Gallery. After successful experiences in previous editions of the event, galleries El Museo / Fernando Pradilla, Galería de las Misiones, Galería Sur, Opera Gallery, Piero Atchugarry and Zielinsky are back, with the presence of Argentina's Herlitzka + Faria standing out.
Among the Brazilian galleries there is as A Gentil Carioca, Almeida & Dale, Fortes D'Aloia e Gabriel, Gomide&Co, Luisa Strina, Mendes Wood DM and Millan; and also, younger projects, such as Galatea, Central, Quadra, Lima Galeria and Asfalto.

BETWEEN LAYOUTS, COLORS AND VIBRATIONS – JUDITH LAUAND: CONCRETE DETOUR
"Judith Lauand/Walking into the future". In that way Profilograma Judith (2000), by Augusto de Campos, one of the main names of concrete poetry in Brazil, celebrates the art of Judith Lauand (1922-2022). The São Paulo artist, a female figure almost isolated in the country, was given a long retrospective with 124 works and extensive documentation, opened before her death at the end of last year, at São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP).
