AN EXHIBITION ROOTED IN EMOTION AT CASA SANTA ANA
Artist Lorena Torres presents Nada es distinto, a series of paintings that explore personal emotions through a direct relationship between lived experience and gesture. The work functions as an intimate record, where painting operates more as testimony than as aesthetic object.
The pieces reveal a gaze that lingers on the other with intensity, often at the edge of emotional overflow or obsession. In this context, the rural Caribbean is not merely a backdrop; it becomes an active element, playing a crucial role in shaping meaning. An open onion, the density of the undergrowth, or a fleeting gesture evoke images where territory and emotion converge.
In these paintings, the real and the dreamlike intermingle. Rather than narrating, they suggest. Sensory fragments emerge: smells, climates, and landscapes marked by a diffuse temporality. The work seems concerned with anchoring what endures, even as it changes form.

The title Nada es distinto points to this idea: what has been lived does not disappear — it transforms. The exhibition offers a path where images do not explain, but rather invite viewers to read them through the lens of bodily and emotional memory.
Lorena Torres (b. 1991, Barranquilla) lives and works in Bogotá. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. Her work has been exhibited in various spaces including SGR Galería, Galería Subtítulo, and El Parche in Bogotá, Colombia; as well as Pablo’s Birthday and Thierry Goldberg in New York, USA, among others.
Casa Santa Ana is a nonprofit foundation that connects people through contemporary art, seeking to understand current contexts and foster a stronger, more inclusive community. Founded in 2015 by Johnny Roux, it organizes exhibitions, publications, workshops, residencies, and community programs with the aim of making art accessible and relevant to everyone’s life.
Nada es distinto will be on view through July 6 at Casa Santa Ana, located at Avenida Pablo Arosemena and C. 14 Este, El Terraplén, Santa Ana, Panama City (Panama).
