THE ARMORY SHOW 2025: LATIN AMERICAN ARTISTS AND NEW TRENDS
The Armory Show 2025 returns to the Javits Center in New York, reaffirming its status as one of the most influential events in modern and contemporary art since nineteen ninety-four. Every year, the fair brings together leading international galleries to showcase innovative works, with a strong focus on curatorial excellence, engaging public programming, and bold artistic activations.
This edition is especially exciting for Latin American artists, who will have a prominent presence across the fair. Their works address themes of identity, migration, displacement, and cultural hybridity, offering fresh perspectives that capture how a new generation envisions Latin American culture today. Among the highlights, Nicaraguan artist Joel Gaitán, based in Miami, presents ceramics inspired by religious offerings, blending ancestral traditions with contemporary aesthetics at booth four hundred thirty-two with The Pit in the Focus section. Cuban artist Roberto Diago exhibits powerful works on colonial history and racial identity, presented by El Apartamento through an installation titled Altar del Hombre. From Argentina, Matías Salgado shows mixed-media works that weave together urban landscapes and personal memories, on view at booth one hundred forty-two with Galerie Ron Mandos.
Beyond the artworks themselves, The Armory Show reflects a broader shift in today’s art world: growing recognition of living artists. For decades, the highest prices were largely reserved for historical works, but now collectors and galleries are betting on the present. Supporting contemporary voices means not only acquiring a piece but also investing in an ongoing creative process. At this year’s fair, works are expected to range from around five thousand to twenty thousand dollars for emerging artists, while larger-scale installations and significant pieces can exceed one hundred thousand dollars. This wider price spectrum allows both established collectors and new buyers to participate.
The two thousand twenty-five edition of The Armory Show promises to set the tone for global art conversations. With bold ideas, diverse voices, and fresh reinterpretations of modernism rooted in Latin America, the fair highlights the region’s vital role in shaping contemporary culture—and reaffirms that investing in living artists is investing in art’s story as it unfolds.
