POLITICS AND POETICS. THE EXHIBITION OF ROSEMBERG SANDOVAL

Rosemberg Sandoval, Colombian visual artist and performer, excavates the brutal violence in Colombia around drug trafficking, the church, paramilitarism, the State, common delinquency, indigence, indigenous uprooting and its pre-Columbian precedents, through a visual poetics and the use of sensations to achieve what he defines as "the power of the marginal".

The use of his body becomes an instrument that connects the finitude of the present, during a fragment of reality, with the idea, the artist and the viewer. Through mediums such as drawing, frottage, photography, video and performance, Sandoval performs actions on and with objects –true remains of real events– denouncing situations of social inequality generated both by war conflicts of deterritorialization and uprooting, as well as by inoperative policies that jeopardize fundamental rights.

The exhibition at W-archivo is made up of works made from the 1990s to the present united through the element of land: the place where a home is built. But what happens when this right is violated, when land is taken away or when people live and die in extreme poverty?
