The Casa de México Foundation in Spain is hosting Cuando habla la luz (When Light Speaks), the first retrospective of Graciela Iturbide (Mexico City, 1942) since she received the 2025 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts. Curated by Juan Rafael Coronel Rivera, the exhibition brings together 115 works spanning from 1972 to 2017.

The Fundación Casa de México in Spain presents the exhibition Lourdes Grobet y el Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino e Indígena, a selection of nearly seventy photographs from the project developed by Lourdes Grobet (Mexico City, Mexico, 1940–2022) around the Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino e Indígena (LTCI) (Peasant and Indigenous Theatre Laboratory).

The Elba Benítez Gallery in Madrid is currently hosting an exhibition of photographs from A Sônia, a project by Claudia Andujar (Neuchâtel, Switzerland, 1931), created in 1971. This body of work stands as one of the most significant early explorations into the creative manipulation of the photographic snapshot. The fair has officially announced the opening of applications for exhibiting galleries interested in participating in this edition. The application deadline is May 15, 2025.

The Badischer Kunstverein presents the work of the Brazilian poet and artist in their first extensive solo exhibition in Germany; To See Aloud  includes diverse facets of her artistic practice, ranging from early text works, videotext poems, publications and printed matter to photographs, objects, object poems and installations, all the way to her most recent performances and artworks in public spaces, including sound-based and collective activations.

Felipe Romero (Bogota, Colombia, 1992) usually shows in his photographic proposal a high interest in conflict zones. While the scenario reflects this palpable but still intangible tension, it also serves as a reflective framework where the conflict and its protagonists meet.

Paths of Life invites viewers on a journey through 45 years of the Mexican photographer's distinguished photographic career; the exhibition presents a captivating combination of previously unpublished images from the artist's personal archive along with her most recent works.

Georgina Valdez is the founder and director of the Argentine gallery The White Lodge, with locations in Córdoba and Buenos Aires. The exhibition Beyond the Single Image. Spanish Photography from the Foto Colectania Collection, Barcelona, at The Marguiles Collection at the Warehouse in Miami, presents 150 works by 36 artists from the Foto Colectania Collection, that currently comprises more than 3,000 photographs by Catalan, Spanish, and Portuguese authors, making it undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive private photography collections in the Iberian Peninsula.

Pinta BAphoto closed its 20th anniversary at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina, after a weekend that brought together the best of photography in the region and was a meeting point for gallery owners, artists, curators, collectors and photography lovers. The fair attracted more than 14,000 visitors during its three days open to the public.

Confines of Paraguay is the initiative of Fernando Allen and Fredi Casco that is part of the Main Section of Pinta BAphoto. Pinta BAphoto –the most important photography fair in the region– presents as a new feature the RADAR section, curated by Sebastián Vidal Mackinson. In an interview with Arte al Día, Sebastián reflects on the diversity of approaches in photography today and its growth as a medium capable of dialoguing with other forms of artistic expression.

The Niemeyer Center, in the Asturian city of Aviles, hosts Tokyo Blues hacia Gritos Sordos (From Tokyo Blues to Deaf Cries), an exhibition by Brazilian photographer Miguel Rio Branco (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, 1946) that traces a journey through his work of crossed images and pieces that were conceived from his personal experience on a trip to Japan, a country whose culture and names in cinema, art and architecture have always fascinated the artist.

The Center for Creative Photography presents Louis Carlos Bernal: Retrospectiva, a landmark survey of one of the most significant American photographers of the twentieth century.

Rolf Art Gallery presents Arquitectura de la imagen en tiempo real (Real Time Image Architecture) by artist Vivian Galban at the Centro Cultural San Martín. The proposal consists of an interactive installation that creates a large-format camera obscura, where the process of image creation is carried out in real time. Curated by Máximo Jacoby. It was previously exhibited at Rolf Art (2019), BAphoto (2019) and Paris Photo (2023).

The most relevant art fair specialized in photography in Latin America Pinta BAphoto celebrates its twenty years of trajectory between October 24 and 27, 2024. Based in the city of Buenos Aires, it has established itself as an undisputed point of reference for photography.

The voices of Latin American artists emerge strongly in this 2024 edition of the Venice Biennale.
