LAST DAYS: SCUOLA PICCOLA ZATTERE OPENS TWO INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS IN VENICE FOR 2027

Scuola Piccola Zattere has opened a call for the selection of two participants in its international fellowship program, taking place during the institution's third season of activities, titled Living Document. The call is directed at artists and cultural practitioners — curators, researchers, architects, choreographers, performers, and writers — working outside the Venetian area, both elsewhere in Italy and internationally.

Each fellowship runs for three months and takes place during one of two periods: early January to early April 2027, or mid-April to mid-July 2027 — the latter coinciding with the Venice Architecture Biennale. Applicants must indicate their preference for one period or their availability for both.

The program offers an individual study space in a shared studio at the Scuola Piccola Zattere building, a grant of €5,000, a research budget of €2,000, accommodation in Venice, and a round-trip ticket. In return, fellows are required to maintain continuous presence at the space, participate in the institution's activities, and propose contributions to the public program. Fellows must also grant reproduction rights over images and texts for institutional communication and a possible publication at the close of the project.

The Living Document season focuses on practices that revisit or reactivate archival traces and regulatory principles; the rule as a generative tool of collective rituals and games; and the forms of aggregation, conflict, and negotiation that characterize social dynamics, examined through the relationship between space, body, architecture, and performativity.

There are no age restrictions, though the program is especially intended for those in the post-academic phase of their careers. Applications from collectives or duos are welcomed. A good knowledge of English is required, and non-EU citizens must hold a valid passport.
