CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: CONCÉNTRICO’S 10TH EDITION COMPETITIONS

Concéntrico, Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Designs opens the competitions and adds for the first time The Street in 10 Years, an innovative program with Porto Academy in which five teams will be selected to design an area of the city with a ten-year strategy; and the proposal Celebrating the City, a competition that combines architecture/art/music by proposing to rethink the kiosk as an urban emblem of a celebration, organized with ArtWorks.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: CONCÉNTRICO’S 10TH EDITION COMPETITIONS
Closed

Concéntrico celebrates its tenth edition with a major transformation incorporating new formats, integrating audiences and meeting challenges that explore time as a factor of change in urban and social design. The new edition will be held from April 25 to May 1, 2024.

Participation, with a digital submission format, is open to an international scope:

Pavilion in Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano. This competition aims to create an information pavilion as a landmark of the festival, the starting point of the routes and activities. It will be located in the Plaza Escuelas Trevijano, in the space between the streets Once de Junio and Portales, and the buildings of the Ibercaja Cultural Centre and the La Rioja Tourist Office. Deadline to apply: December 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (GMT+1).

Installation in Viña Lanciano. The aim of this competition is to create an installation in Viña Lanciano de Bodegas LAN, on the path that borders the Mantible Ecológico plot and vertebrates the estate from east to west from the meander of the Ebro River to the central axis. All creators (individuals or groups) who present intervention projects within any of the disciplines of architecture, landscaping, design and art are eligible to apply. Deadline to apply: December 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (GMT+1).

Celebrating the city. The aim of this competition is to create an intervention in the Concha del Espolón and its surroundings, with the collaboration of ArtWork. It proposes the design of an urban scenario in dialogue with the pre-existence: starting from tradition to rethink the model of the kiosk that inhabits our squares to provoke celebration through architecture/art/music. All creators (individuals or collectives) who present intervention projects within any of the disciplines of architecture, design and art are eligible to apply. Deadline to apply: December 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (GMT+1).

The Street in 10 Years. This call aims to place Logroño at the centre of the city’s future. Together with Porto Academy, the organization is developing a practical and theoretical program, supported by Garnica, as patron of the competition, which will become a laboratory for the innovation of new ideas, tools and formats. The proposal is to rethink a central urban environment of the city with a 10-year perspective: a strategic thinking for that area to be developed within a 10-year time frame. The five teams selected in the first phase – with a prize of €1500 per team, in addition to the final winner’s fees – will have to design and plan the actions they would develop to progressively transform the public spaces of Beti Jai Street / Duquesa de la Victoria Street / Glorieta Park integrating the social, physical and aesthetic spheres in their methodology.

Deadlines of The Street in 10 Years

Phase I curriculum and text: November 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (GMT+1). / Phase II development of the competition: December 1–February 1, 2023 at 11:59pm (GMT+1).

The celebration of its tenth edition will end with the publication of a book in autumn 2024 that collects and analyses all the experiences accumulated since its inception in 2015.
