PINTA ASUNCIÓN ART WEEK 2025 BEGINS: FOUR DAYS OF EXHIBITIONS, GALLERIES, AND DEBATES
From September 10 to 13, Asunción hosts the final edition of Pinta Art Week, with a program that brings together museum and gallery openings, a network of cultural institutions, and a FORO that fosters reflection among local and international voices.
Today, September 10, marks the opening of the fourth and last edition of Pinta Asunción Art Week, the most important international art gathering in Paraguay. Curated by Irene Gelfman (Global Curator of Pinta) and Adriana Almada (General Curator), the art week will run until September 13 across different venues in the city, with an agenda that combines exhibitions, guided tours, debates, and the participation of museums, galleries, and cultural institutions.
The decision to extend the cycle one more year—originally planned for three consecutive editions between 2022 and 2024—was made at the request of artists, curators, and cultural agents, as a way of celebrating and closing a project that has left a lasting mark on Paraguay’s cultural scene.
A city in a contemporary key
For four days, Asunción transforms into a large art circuit. The program opens this Wednesday with a double inauguration at Casa Ardissone, a venue opening to the public for the very first time. The exhibitions El nombre del mundo es bosque by Fernando Allen and Paraguay Arte contemporáneo, both curated by Almada, will be on view.

A network of spaces and institutions
This year’s edition gathers 13 galleries (Arte Actual, Artística, BGN Arte, Casa Mayor, Espacio K, Exaedro, Expresiones, Fábrica Galería, Fuga Villa Morra, Matices, Room Service, Textilia, and Viedma Arte) and 9 museums, foundations, and institutions (Casa Ardissone, Centro Cultural de España Juan de Salazar, Museo del Barro, Confines del Paraguay, Fundación Migliorisi, Fundación Texo, La otra casa de Asterión, and Museo de Arte Sacro).
FORO: a space for thought and dialogue
One of the highlights of this edition is the FORO, a series of conversations curated and moderated by Irene Gelfman, bringing together artists, curators, and cultural managers to reflect on pressing issues in contemporary art: community practices, curating as political action, authorship, the dialogue between art and craft, and cultural management as a tool for heritage protection.
On Friday, September 12 at 4:30 pm, the session Art, Community, and Reflection will feature Andrea Vázquez (President of the Paraguayan Institute of Handicrafts) and Lucrecia Lionti (Argentine visual artist and educator).
On Saturday, September 13 at 10:30 am, the panel Foundations and Collections will bring together Fredi Casco (Fundación Texo), Martin Craciun (Uruguayan curator), Natalia Antola (Director General of Cultural Heritage), and Eleonora Jaureguiberry (MALBA Puertos).
Both sessions will take place at the Casa de la Integración – CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, with free admission upon prior registration.
With the support of EFG, Global Lead Partner of Pinta, this final edition consolidates Pinta Asunción as a platform that not only brought contemporary art closer to the public but also strengthened cooperation between the public and private sectors, opening new opportunities for international collaboration.
Pinta Asunción Art Week 2025 closes with an intense and diverse program that invites the city to celebrate everything achieved and to reflect on the future of art in Paraguay and the region.
