AFFAIR #3: A FAIR COMMITTED TO NEW CONNECTIONS, IN BUENOS AIRES
The contemporary art fair organized by gallerists opens to the public in Buenos Aires’ renovated downtown featuring “resident” and “guest” galleries as well as international participants.
From Thursday, August 28 to Sunday, August 31, 30 galleries and contemporary art projects will take part in the third edition of AFFAIR, which in this new edition aims to captivate the art market by breaking down boundaries between the most contemporary proposals and those by established artists, without hierarchies or distinctions.
Conceived by gallerists from across the country, for the second year in a row it will be held at Central AFFAIR (mezzanine at Galerías Larreta) in Downtown Buenos Aires, where “resident” galleries will host “guest” galleries, boosting their proposals, the diversity of the event, and its collaborative spirit. For the first time, the fair will feature international galleries: Judas Galería, from Valparaíso (Chile), and Galería del Paseo, from Punta del Este (Uruguay). The invited curator is Florencia Battiti, the spatial design is by designers Marina Christe and Heidi Jalkh, and production is led by Verónica Santalla.

AFFAIR #3 will strengthen two successful programs from previous editions: Mi primer AFFAIR, a digital catalog where each gallery showcases artworks at accessible prices not exceeding USD 600—an opportunity for visitors aspiring to purchase their first artwork. And the Infancias program, featuring activities and workshops for children, making it a complete family experience.

“Each edition brings a new challenge, and this year it’s the commercial one. With a very tight market, our goal is to improve our sales performance and attract new buyers, for which Mi primer AFFAIR is a great tool,” explained Martínez.
A Model Strengthened by ‘Resident’ and ‘Guest’ Galleries
This year, each Central AFFAIR gallery invited another gallery to share the space and present a joint proposal. In this way, the fair grows in the number of exhibitors and consolidates itself as a diverse and federal alternative, with projects by gallerists and artists from Buenos Aires City, Buenos Aires Province, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Salta, La Rioja, and Chaco.

In addition, this fair model has been regionalized, strengthening ties between artists, professionals, and agents of the art market. In this context, Judas Galería brings its proposal “from the edges,” featuring artists from different regions of Chile who focus on diversity; and throughout August it will serve as a “resident” gallery at Central AFFAIR, giving its gallerists and artists the chance to build strong ties with local players in the scene.
“Growth does not come without challenges: the art market remains small, and audiences are concentrated in specific niches. However, our daily experience proves that collective work drives more consistent proposals,” highlighted Bárbara Echevarría, director of Acéfala.

Thus, this third edition marks the consolidation of the fair that emerged in 2023 and held its first edition at Polo Cultural Saldías, enriching Buenos Aires Art Week.
With free admission, AFFAIR #3 can be visited from Thursday, August 28 to Sunday, August 31, from 2 pm to 8 pm, at Florida 971 / San Martín 954, Central AFFAIR, Buenos Aires.
