VENTANA GALERÍA PRESENTS “CORPORALIDADES” AT CANTRAL NEWBERY

Ventana Galería presents Corporalidades, the third edition of its curatorial cycle El amor puede funcionar, an audiovisual exhibition platform that invites artists from different disciplines to create short-form works for display at Ventana Galería de Videoarte. For this new edition, the project moves to one of the windows of Central Newbery Galería, its new host venue located at Jorge Newbery 3599, in Buenos Aires’ Chacarita neighborhood.

Corporalidades proposes a reflection on the body as a living territory, shaped by history, culture, politics, and affect. Rather than understanding the body as a fixed or universal entity, this edition approaches it as a construction in constant transformation: a space where norms, desires, memories, and possibilities are inscribed.

The exhibition brings together works by Jovita Kelmelmajer, Matías Jesús Funes, Romina Cruz, and guest artist Carla Fonseca. Through dance, performance, interpretation, and movement-based practices, the artists explore different ways of thinking about the contemporary body in relation to the environment that surrounds us and with which we coexist.

Kelmelmajer works with sensitivity, gesture, and the traces preserved by the body as a living archive. Funes approaches the body as a territory of action, presence, and political construction. Cruz explores the relationships between identity, language, and fiction. Fonseca offers a perspective on the body as territory, movement, and situated experience.

Through short pieces conceived specifically for the screen, Corporalidades invites viewers to pause for a moment and observe something we inhabit every day but rarely fully understand: our own bodies and those of others.

About Central Newbery Galería

Central Newbery, a space dedicated to the representation and promotion of Argentine artists, has incorporated Ventana Galería into its program. Ventana is a traveling video art exhibition platform that works with artists from different disciplines through short-form productions created for the screen.

Ventana Galería develops its exhibitions under the “3 artists, 3 minutes” format, inviting creators from different disciplines to produce one-minute audiovisual works around a shared theme. Following the editions El amor puede funcionar, Arquitectura Onlife, and Corporalidades, the project is now entering a new stage in collaboration with Central Newbery.

This new partnership between Central Newbery and Ventana Galería will include workshops, talks, and meetings between artists and audiences throughout August, September, and October.
