espacio FAN has inaugurated the exhibition Autorretratos (Self-Portraits) by artist Juan José Cambre (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1948), who in the eighties was part of the group "La nueva imagen," alongside Guillermo Kuitca, Juan Pablo Renzi, Pablo Suárez, Ana Eckell, Alfredo Prior, Fernando Fazzolari, and Armando Rearte.

The exhibition consists of a series of seven oil paintings on paper — previously unseen — that the artist created in 2023. In all of them, the recurring element is the vessel, whose split form is repeated with different color variations and which, when its two halves are joined, forms the oval of a face.

This formal and chromatic exploration, which occupies the central part of the gallery, is accompanied by two of his works in the back room (an oil on paper of a vessel in black and white from 1996, and a large-format oil on canvas in green from 2011) that establish his own historical influences, revisited for this new aesthetic pursuit with a timeless nod.

Autorretratos can be visited until June 10 at Espacio FAN, Florida 971, Unit 41, CABA (Argentina).
