ALEJANDRO CESARCO AND THE RESIGNIFIED TEXT
Alejandro Cesarco: Group Show / Muestra colectiva, Galería Elba Benítez

Galería Elba Benítez presents Group Show / Muestra colectiva, Alejandro Cesarco’s second exhibition at the Madrid gallery. The exhibition, with an eminently minimalist conception, centers on an installation that combines the gallery space with a work that brings together the museum descriptions of twenty-seven works produced between the sixteenth century and the present day. All of them reflect on memory as a practice of construction, repetition, and transformation from diverse contexts and languages.

Rather than promoting a chronological tour of the works, the concept and arrangement establish a correlation of affinities between them, which are resignified when observed in relation to one another and when their context changes. The constancy of the image, portraiture, the fragility of language, and how the past continues to intervene in the present are some of the axes that structure this dialogue.

The exhibition, complemented by Fears, Diagnostic, Ambition (2024), following the same aesthetic line, highlights the trajectory of Cesarco’s artistic practice. Based on translation, appropriation, quotation, and the semiotic games of change, it questions relationships and explores the book as an instrumental and mnemonic object, turning it into a space for construction and preservation.

Alejandro Cesarco. Group Show / Muestra colectiva can be seen until November 14, 2026, at Galería Elba Benítez, San Lorenzo 11, Madrid, Spain.
