ACTS OF RESISTANCE: PHOTOGRAPHY, FEMINISMS AND THE ART OF PROTEST
The group exhibition at the SLG, organized in collaboration with V&A, brings together works by international artists and collectives who are using the camera to challenge and move beyond traditional protest photography.
Photography has long been associated with acts of resistance. It is used to document action, share ideas, inspire change, tell stories, gather evidence and fight against injustice.
This urgent and political exhibition explores feminism and activism from an international and contemporary perspective. Looking at different approaches to feminism from the past 10 years, the show highlights shared concerns including intersectionality, transnational solidarity, and the use of social media and digital technology as a tool for change.
Acts of Resistance will reflect on recent events from across the globe, such as anti-rape protests in Bangladesh responding to the rise in violence against women and girls in 2020; the US Supreme Court overturning of Roe vs Wade in 2022; as well as the ongoing protests against the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.

IRISH PAVILION AT THE VENICE BIENNALE
Ireland at Venice will present ROMANTIC IRELAND, an exhibition by Eimear Walshe, for the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, curated by Sara Greavu and Project Arts Centre.
FERNANDA LÓPEZ QUILODRÁAN, THE ARTIST NOMINATED AT Ch.ACO 2024 FOR THE EFG LATIN AMERICAN ART AWARD
The EFG Latin American Art Award, together with ArtNexus, announced Fernanda López Quilodráan from Santiago, (Chile), as one of the finalists for the annual acquisition award, whose winner will be announced at Pinta Miami during Miami Art Week.
PINTA BAphoto INVITES GALLERIES TO PARTICIPATE FOR ITS 20TH EDITION
Pinta BAphoto is the most important art fair specialized in photography in Latin America. In its 20th edition, it invites galleries to submit their proposals until April 30, 2024.
SANDRA VÁSQUEZ DE LA HORRA AT DENVER ART MUSEUM
The Denver Art Museum (DAM) presented Sandra Vásquez de la Horra: The Awake Volcanoes, the first solo show in a U.S. Museum for the Chilean artist, known for her participation at the 2022 Venice Biennale and being the recipient of the prestigious Käthe Kollwitz Prize for 2023.
NATALIA ÁNGELES VIEYRA: THE NATIONAL GALLERY'S CURATOR OF LATINX ART
The National Gallery of Art announced the appointment of Natalia Ángeles Vieyra as the new associate curator of Latinx art. She will assume the position on June 30. Vieyra will play a key role in the museum's work. She will join a team of seven curators in the department of modern and contemporary art dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century art.
