American artist Deana Lawson produces portraits of contemporary Black life that are meticulously staged yet profoundly intimate. The narratives of the Brazilian avant-garde in the arts go through an intense revision. Due to the centenary of the Week of 22, the emblematic event that in the thesis launched the foundations of modernity through different languages​​and fields of activity in the country, three exhibitions currently on the billboard rotate and bring new elements from the production of two icons of Modernism in Visual Arts - Tarsila Do Amaral (1886-1973) and Di Cavalcanti (1897-1976). In addition, they cast more emphatic lights on three not-so-famous characters within the journeys within the movement and the modernist winds: Antonio Gomide (1895-1967), John Graz (1891-1980) and Regina Gomide-Graz (1897-1973) .

Varejão’s rich and diverse artistic oeuvre embodies the mythic pluralism of Brazilian identity and the fraught social, cultural, and aesthetic interactions that engendered it. Living and working in Rio de Janeiro, she draws upon the potent visual legacy of colonial histories and transnational exchange, creating confluent forms that expose the multivalent nature of memory and representation.

Mignone's twelfth solo exhibition at the gallery coincides with the launch of the artist's new book. She is recognized for her paintings that explore an infinite and particular universe, but which, when meeting the eyes of the observer, end up becoming plural. There is no way to confront the artist's work without confronting oneself.

The exhibition explores the unforgettable creative achievements of São Paulo’s Foto-Cine Clube Bandeirante (FCCB), a group of amateur photographers whose ambitious and innovative works embodied the abundant originality of postwar Brazilian culture. Although their work was heralded around the world in the 1950s, it subsequently faded from view. This is the first museum exhibition to present this fascinating moment in photography’s history to audiences outside of Brazil.

"I keep searching for images that leave me in a state of suspension, a stable / unstable situation, that create a certain discomfort and some plenitude (whether temporary or permanent, time will tell)," states the artist. Galeria Millan exhibits The Resignification of the Designified Form, first solo show by the artist Paulo Whitaker at the gallery. It is organized by Ricardo Kugelmas and brings together a set of 8 large-format oil paintings accompanied by a smaller group, elaborated during a residency at Art Farm Project, in São Paulo during October 2019.

Twenty proposals will be selected to be part of the Transe exhibition, part of the 13th edition of the Mercosul Biennial, which takes place in September 2022. Applications can be submitted until July 20^th, and the selection will be announced on September 22nd.
