GATHERING THE SCATTERED: LUNA PALAZZOLO-DABOUL’S POETIC ARCHAEOLOGY OF MEMORY

By Violeta Lozada

In her solo exhibition Scattered Pieces, Miami-based artist Luna Palazzolo-Daboul transforms the act of scattering into a meditation on memory, labor, and belonging. Installed in Paradise Plaza (151 NE 41st Street, Suite 133), the site-specific work unfolds across the floor as an archive of fragments, each one a piece of the artist’s evolving journey.

GATHERING THE SCATTERED: LUNA PALAZZOLO-DABOUL’S POETIC ARCHAEOLOGY OF MEMORY

Palazzolo-Daboul’s project draws inspiration from Robert Morris’s 1968–69 Scatter Piece, a minimalist experiment in chance and anti-form. Yet where Morris valued randomness, Palazzolo-Daboul brings structure, intimacy, and personal history. Her installation reclaims the scattered as intentional, an act of care rather than chaos.

The work assembles six years of her artistic production, combining finished pieces, leftover materials, and newly created objects. Together, these elements form a constellation of time, gesture, and persistence. As visitors move through the installation, they are invited to trace connections between fragments, discovering beauty in what was once discarded.

Scattered Pieces also carries a quiet but powerful critique of art history’s exclusions. By inserting her material narrative into a dialogue long dominated by male artists, Palazzolo-Daboul redefines what it means to belong. Her scattering becomes both an act of disruption and a poetic reorganization, a reminder that memory itself is rarely linear or whole.

Beyond its conceptual rigor, the show connects to a larger conversation about Latin American artists shaping Miami’s cultural landscape. The city has become a vibrant meeting point for creators from across the region, where languages, traditions, and artistic lineages converge. Artists like Palazzolo-Daboul embody this energy, turning personal history into shared experience. Through Scattered Pieces, she invites viewers to see how fragments, of memory, migration, or identity, can come together to form something whole, luminous, and distinctly Miami.

Scattered Pieces is on view through October 31, 2025, at Paradise Plaza, Miami Design District (United States).
