THE POMPIDOU MUSEUM PROJECT IN FOZ DO IGUAZU WILL BE PRESENTED AT PINTA Sud | ASU 2024
The next Pompidou Museum project in Foz do Iguaçu will be presented by Luciana Pereira, Secretary of Culture of the State of Paraná, Brazil, at the Pinta Sud | ASU conference, to be held at the Casa de la Integración (CAF) on August 8, 2024. This will be the first Pompidou Center in Latin America.
The Pompidou Museum in Foz Iguaçu is the first satellite in Latin America, with a building designed by Paraguayan architect Solano Benitez. The first Latin American branch of the renowned French institution seeks to transform the city into a cultural epicenter for the region.
The project will be presented during FORO, a series of talks at the Casa de la Integración (CAF) - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. The lecture “Pompidou-Paraná Museum. International Key of Contemporary Art in the Triple Frontier (Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina)” will feature the participation of Luciana Pereira (architect and urban planner. President of the State Council of Culture, of the State Council of Historical and Artistic Heritage and state secretary of Culture of Paraná) and Solano Benítez (architect, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale 2016, author of the building project).
Architect Benítez will work with Angelo Bucci, a professor at USP and a key figure in contemporary architecture in Brazil, renowned for his design of the Brazilian pavilion at Expo Seville '92. The museum will be built next to the Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, the entity that donated the land. The building is expected to be ready by 2026.
Pinta Sud | ASU 2024 will be held in Asuncion, Paraguay, from August 5 to 11, with general curatorship by Adriana Almada and a rich program of exhibitions, visits to private collections and artists' studios, urban interventions and a conversation with referents of the international art circuit.

LIA D CASTRO’S FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION AT MASP
The exhibition Lia D Castro: Everywhere and Nowhere, at MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand is the artist’s first solo show in a museum, and brings together 36 works, most of which are figurative paintings. The selected works explore scenarios where affection, dialogue and imagination become important tools for social transformation.
THE COLORS OF THE RESISTANCE: MARCELO BRODSKY AT MUSEO DEL BARRO
The Museo del Barro will present, in the context of Pinta Sud | ASU 2024, the exhibition The Colors of Resistance by artist Marcelo Brodsky. It is under the curatorship of Ticio Escobar.
LATIN AMERICAN CURATORIAL PRACTICE AT PINTA Sud | ASU 2024
In the next edition of Pinta Sud | ASU 2024 -to be held from August 5 to 11, 2024 in Asuncion, Paraguay- the FORO lecture series will be one of the key spaces to delve into Latin American curatorial practice. Curated by Adriana Almada and Irene Gelfman, FORO will feature international guests such as Inés Katzenstein, Isabella Lenzi, Raphael Fonseca, among others.

OCHIRBOLD AYURZANA AT THE MONGOLIAN PAVILION
The Mongolian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale presents artist Ochirbold Ayurzana with the exhibition Discovering the Present from the Future. The proposal is curated by Oyuntuya Oyunjargal, the Cultural Envoy of Mongolia to Germany, and co-curated by Gregor Jansen, director of the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf in Germany.
“VAI, VAI, SAUDADE”: BRAZIL’S TRAVEL NOTES
Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee – museo Madre present Vai, vai, Saudade, a collective exhibition which offers a poetic pathway, exploring a series of stories related to the art produced in Brazil since WWII. Curated by Cristiano Raimondi.
NEW DATE FOR THE 14TH MERCOSUR BIENNIAL
The 14th Mercosur Biennial will be held between March 27 and June 1, 2025. The exhibition, which was originally planned to be held this year in Porto Alegre, was rescheduled as a result of the climatic catastrophes that affected southern Brazil.

THREE PAVILIONS AT BIENNALE 2024 THAT EXPLORE THEIR OWN COLONIAL PASTS
The title of the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia, "Stranieri Ovunque", refers, in part, to foreignness as the inherent nature of the subject. Understood in this way, the national pavilions of Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom exhibit artistic proposals that develop the theme of colonialism and reconstruct histories, remedy ties between identity and territory, and explore the dramatic plurality of this potent historical axis. That said, this review does not intend to unveil or unpack the most unjust transcendental truths, but merely to reflect on the musings of others.
