THE OSWALDO VIGAS FOUNDATION LAUNCHES THE ARTIST'S ONLINE CATALOG RAISONNÉ

The Oswaldo Vigas Foundation created the artist's catalog raisonné to contribute to his artistic legacy by allowing scholars, curators, collectors and the general public to freely access information and browse cross-references. In addition, it will also provide a better understanding of the sources of the artist's early works related to his vision of America, his Parisian period in the 1950s and 1960s, his famous murals at the University of Venezuela (UCV) – now named a UNESCO World Heritage Site– and the work he produced when he returned to Venezuela.

It has the collaboration and support of Axel Stein, head of Sotheby's Latin American Art Department between 2011 and 2018, who says: "With more than 3,000 paintings catalogued and numbered, with their corresponding complete exhibition history in galleries and museums, and bibliography published in catalogs, books and magazines, the complete Oswaldo Vigas Catalogue Raisonné online is the indispensable tool to fully understand the artist's career. The presence of any work in the Catalog is an irrefutable guarantee of its authenticity."
