SURREALISM IN LATIN AMERICA AT 4TH FIFCYL

Within the program curated by Maria Millan, the exhibition Surrealism in Latin America presents the work of twelve artists, among which the presence of works by Rosa Covarrubias, Kati Horna, Graciela or Ana Mendieta strongly stands out.

With this exhibition, the festival proposes the necessary tools to understand the relevance of the Latin American vision of the centennial avant-garde, that which delves into the roots of magical realism and a certain transliteration of reality by assuming the points of view that emanate from the fantastic, which leads, in a way, to an original reinterpretation of the concept coined in Europe. The exhibition facilitates, with the incorporation of the personal style and that Latin American surrealist approach of the participants, to delve into that reinterpretative key of this movement and the worlds generated from it.

Surrealism in Latin America opens on April 17 at the Museo de Palencia and will be open until May 19. It is part of the IV International Photography Festival of Castilla y Leon, held in Palencia, Spain.
