"INCÓGNITO": 20 ARTISTS FACING THE HIDDEN NARRATIVES OF DESIRE

This Thursday, September 3, Casa Hoffmann (Bogotá, Colombia) opens Incógnito, a show curated by María Isabel Rueda featuring artists Nani Alarcón, Jaime Ávila, Katy Beltrán, Flor María Bouhot, Karen Paulina Biswell, Camo, Colectivo Transmallo, Ximena Escobar, Fernell Franco, Festival Internacional de Artes Eróticas, Adriana García Galán, Nadia Granados, Hellvira, María Teresa Hincapié, Adriana Marmorek, Jessica Mitran, Raquel Sofía Moreno, Vanessa Ortiz, Miguel Ángel Rojas, Jose Ruiz, María Camila Samudio, Ser del Cosmos, Laura Serna, Jorge Alonso Zapata, and Sergio Zapata León.

Incógnito proposes a rupture that cuts across contemporary regimes saturated with the visible. It questions the narratives of desire across different periods of art in Colombia through a group of artists who operate as conspirators of pleasure and resistance.

In a society focused on making self-image visible and commodifying it, the discourse of the other's desire shifts toward marginal languages. When the search begins from the hidden — which can vibrate in plain light or withdraw into the shadows — one discovers that, ironically, what falls outside the frame may in fact be the true image.

Each work in this show opens a window that redirects our gaze toward a space where resistance no longer lies in the pursuit of visibility, but in the radical right to opacity, secrecy, and escape. A raw gaze is required — one linked to cinematic narratives of horror, humor, and the deep darkness of our nature — in order to rescue sacrificed intimacies.

The bodies, images, archives, and identities gathered here coexist in that ungovernable space of desire that insists on existing even when there is no witness to shape it.
