RAC FOUNDATION HOSTS THE BARAYA’S CAMELLIAS EXPEDITION
The RAC Foundation presents, at its headquarters in Pontevedra, Expedition Camellias: Herbal of Artificial Plants, a solo show by Alberto Baraya (Bogotá, Colombia, 1968), originating from the Artist-in-Residence program developed by the foundation. The exhibition features a group of twelve works resulting from a research project on the camellia—a flower native to China and Japan that has become an essential element in the landscapes, gardens, and parks of western Galicia.
ADRIÁN BALSECA IN ITALY – NATURE, POWER AND EXPLOITATION
PAV Parco Arte Vivente presented the first solo exhibition in Italy by the Ecuadorian artist Adrián Balseca (1989) curated by Marco Scotini. The exhibition is an investigation into the role of the human being as an actor within the ecosystem, focussing on the relationships between the economy, ecology and memory as well as on the dynamics of power linked to the extractivism and exploitation of nature.
BODIES & TERRITORY: A GROUP EXHIBITION AT JUMEX MUSEUM
Siluetas sobre maleza [Silhouettes on grass] is a group exhibition at Museo Jumex that explores the ways in which bodies exist and inhabit territory. Spanning several generations, the exhibition features artists who explore the intertwined associations of body, land and identity in Latin America's history and present: Minia Biabiany (Guadalupe, 1988), Vivian Caccuri (Brazil, 1986), Frieda Toranzo Jaeger (Mexico, 1988), Ana Mendieta (Cuba, 1948 - USA, 1985), Nohemí Pérez (Colombia, 1962) and Vivian Suter (Argentina, 1949).
FIVE LATIN AMERICAN ARTISTS EXHIBITING FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE VENICE BIENNALE
The voices of Latin American artists emerge strongly in this 2024 edition of the Venice Biennale. Claudia Alarcón, Julia Isídrez and Juana Marta Rodas, Ana Segovia, Frieda Toranzo Jaeger and Claudia Andújar lead viewers on a profound journey through their cultural heritage and unique artistic practices.
THE GOLD OF DREAMS: ANDRÉS PAREDES AT THE MACRO TOWER
Banco Macro presented El Oro de los sueños (The Gold of Dreams), the exhibition by Andrés Paredes which is part of a new artistic program within its agenda at the Corporate Tower. The program is called Macro Federal, an initiative to present artists from all the provinces of Argentina, starting with Misiones. It is curated by Patricia Rizzo.
