At this year’s Miami Art Week, a surge of Latin artistic energy is reshaping the city’s creative landscape. One standout exhibition is Oscar Martínez’s new sculptural installation on Lincoln Road demonstrating the depth, range, and confidence with which Latin artists are stepping into one of the world’s most influential art gatherings.

MIAMI ART WEEK SPOTLIGHT: OSCAR MARTÍNEZ

Oscar Martínez activates Lincoln Road with La herencia viva (The living legacy), a bold new sculptural installation that expands his visual language into the public sphere. Known for merging urban textures with symbolic abstraction, Martínez’s new work intensifies his exploration of resilience, migration, and the layered histories that shape Latin American identity. The sculpture’s dynamic form—at once architectural and organic, interacts directly with the flow of the iconic pedestrian street, inviting passersby into a dialogue between structure, movement, and cultural memory. Martínez’s presence on Lincoln Road underscores his commitment to making art accessible, communal, and unbound by traditional gallery constraints.

Lincoln Road has long been one of Miami Beach’s most vital cultural corridors, a pedestrian promenade where art, design, architecture, and the city’s diverse communities converge in public space. Its history as an open-air stage for creativity makes it a symbolic landmark for visitors, a place where Miami’s multicultural identity becomes visible and tangible. The fact that Oscar Martínez now has a sculpture installed there is especially significant: it positions a Latin American artist at the heart of one of Miami’s most recognized streets, allowing his exploration of identity, migration, and collective heritage to speak directly to the thousands who walk this iconic street every day.

This marks a defining moment: Latin artists are not only participating in Miami Art Week, they are setting its tone. Martinez’s commanding public installation reflects a confidence and a deeper cultural grounding, signaling a future in which Latin creativity stands unapologetically at the forefront.

This year, during Miami Art Week and with the help of Pinta Art Fair there is a highlight of Latin voices, it amplifies them, placing their stories, visions, and innovations firmly in the spotlight.
