OPEN CALL: LAB ART PRIZE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
Among the 12 finalists, awards will include up to €2,000 in acquisition, €1,000 in cash, and a monograph. Deadline: November 12.
The Malamegi Lab Art Prize, an international competition, is open to artists from around the world and to works in a wide range of disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, mixed media, digital art, and video. The deadline to apply is November 12.
The competition will select 12 finalist artists, who will have the chance to win prestigious prizes and show their work in a high-profile group exhibition. The prizes include: the New Malamegi Collection, the Artwork Acquisition Prize, the Group Exhibition, the Cash Prize, and the Monograph Book.
Artwork Acquisition Prize
Malamegi Lab will acquire one of the 12 finalist artworks, which will become part of its private collection. The prize has a maximum purchase value of €2,000. Works that are not for sale, or that are priced above the acquisition prize, will not be considered for this award, though they may still win one of the others.
Cash Prize
At the end of the group exhibition, a cash prize of €1,000 will be awarded to one of the 12 selected artists. The prize is granted based on the quality and originality of the work on display. The winning work remains the property of the artist. The prize is a contribution to the development of the artist's artistic and aesthetic pursuits.
Monograph Book
A monograph book will be dedicated to one of the finalist artists. It will be produced by Malamegi Lab in collaboration with the curators of the final exhibition. Malamegi Lab will cover the preparation, development, printing, and distribution of the book. Additional copies will be provided to the artist for personal use, on top of those distributed.
New Malamegi Collection
Malamegi is committed to creating a new collection of works by selecting one artist from among the competition's 12 finalists. The collaboration will allow the artist to develop a collection made up entirely of their own works, which will be promoted and presented to all buyers in the company's commercial network.
Group Exhibition
Twelve artists will be selected for the competition's final exhibition. The opening will be accompanied by the general catalog, which will be distributed throughout the exhibition period. Invitations will be sent to artists, curators, critics, journalists, and media outlets in the host city.
