This Friday, Fernando Botero (1932–2023) returns to Korea after more than a decade with a major retrospective at the Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Center. Curated by Lina Botero and organized in collaboration with the Fernando Botero Foundation, the exhibition features over 112 works, several of which have never been exhibited before. The show celebrates the Colombian master's legacy and reaffirms the deep connection between his work and Korean audiences.

The artist's visual language — volume, sensuality, irony, and humanity — continues to resonate across continents, reaching audiences with the same force and tenderness that have defined his work for decades. His deep connection with Asia is well documented: in the 1990s he held seven exhibitions at museums throughout Japan; in 2004 his first show in Singapore; in 2006 in Korea; and from 2015 onward, major exhibitions across China.

"Fernando Botero created a visual language that belongs to the world," said collector and gallerist Gary Nader. "To see that language embraced once again in Seoul through such an ambitious exhibition is both moving and significant. It is a beautiful reminder that truly great art never stops speaking."

Fernando Botero: The Triumph of Form will be on view through August 30, 2026 at the Hangaram Art Museum — Seoul Arts Center.
