FRAGILITY AND SENSUALITY: SANTIAGO FIGUEROA IN SANTIAGO, CHILE

De Sarmiento Galería inaugurated its new location in Providencia, at Darío Urzúa 2130, with Cuerpos Velados, an exhibition by artist Santiago Figueroa (Santiago, Chile, 1984). The show brings together 18 serigraphs on canvas and acrylic that explore the male body as a territory where desire, intimacy, and vulnerability converge, and will be on view through August 15, 2026.

Conceived as an investigation into what remains hidden and what is revealed, the exhibition brings together a series of works in which the images play with transparency, veiling, and insinuation. Figueroa proposes an approach to eroticism through suggestion, inviting viewers to complete what they can only partially perceive.

Here, the body appears as a space of memory, desire, and sensory experience. Torsos, limbs, and anatomical fragments shift between layers of ink and color, building an atmosphere in which fragility and sensuality replace any spectacular gesture. Rather than simply depicting the male body, Cuerpos Velados offers a reflection on the ways desire, intimacy, and vulnerability can become visible through the image.

In the text accompanying the exhibition, physician and collector Rodrigo Brown writes: "Secrecy is the reverse of shame. Intimacy is the distance between what is said and what could be said."

Cuerpos Velados will be on view at De Sarmiento Galería (Darío Urzúa 2130, Providencia, Santiago) through August 15, 2026.
