SANDRA DE BERDUCCY SELECTED FOR THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM OF BMoCA MUSEUM COLORADO, UNITED STATES

With more than 20 years of international experience, De Berduccy combines research on the production of energy, senses and latent and hidden messages in the traditional textile practices of the Andes intermingled with natural wool fibers and spun by hand and woven in loom, fiber optics, circuits, sensors and a whole host of technological resources put at the service of artistic investigation and experimentation.

Created in 2014, the BMoCA + Swoon Residence consists of a three-week work program. This valuable initiative is launched with the aim of helping artists to continue developing their work, providing the time, funding, space and freedom to develop new works of their imagination.

During the first residency, in 2015, the Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde developed a large rainbow that is reflected in the neighboring structures, receiving the help of scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Since then, this artist has traveled the world with this piece. In 2016 Tomoko Sauvage (Japan-France) visited Boulder to continue her research on sound art. In 2017, Amalia Pica (Argentina-Mexico-Great Britain) attended the residence to continue her research on communication with primates. In 2018, installation and light artist James Tapscott (Australia) attended the residency and worked with local scientific research institutions to develop a new body of work. Most recently, poet and translator Tim Atkins (England) combined the written word with the visual expression in 2019.

This 2020, the artist Sandra De Berduccy is scheduled to carry out her textile research project and participate in a minimum of 2 programs related to the Boulder community.
