Ella Fontanals Cisneros gave Arco a press conference to explain the details of the donation of the foundation she presides over the Spanish State, as well as the creation of an exhibition space for the Contemporary Art Collection of the Americas in the Tabacalera building in Madrid.

Fontanals Cisneros, born in Cuba and living in Venezuela with a Spanish passport, said that she feels "very honored and faithfull" that "a final agreement can be reached". "I feel very happy because the collection will have a house for the public to have access to all these Latin American works that I have been collecting for so long. Spain is a second home for me, because I am also Spanish and in recent years I have done of Madrid my house", added.

It is one of the most important private collections of Latin American art in the world and is a good example of the commitment to patronage that the collector has marked throughout his life. The collection includes works by artists such as Carmen Herrera, Cildo Miereles, Jesus Soto, and photography of Grete Stern and Horacio Coppola, Leo Matiz or Paulo Pires.
