Es Baluard presents Trans-Estatua by Ana Laura Aláez

Es Baluard invites artist Ana Laura Aláez to take part in the 2016 edition of "Nit de l'Art". As usual, two complementary locations will be used. On this occasion, there will be a live intervention in the window display of El Corte Inglés (Av. Jaume III, Palma), and an exhibition in Es Baluard's Gabinet. The sculpture Trayectoria (Like gold and faceted #1) establishes a dialogue with a sound piece produced especially for this occasion.

Aláez reappropriates the title "Trans-Estatua" (trans-sculpture), a term Jorge Oteiza used when referring to his own work. With this term, the Basque sculptor used to explain that his essential interest in sculpture was its process of de-materialization. All the immanent energy, beyond its formal conclusion.

High Art and Mass Culture hold hands throughout Aláez' trajectory. In 2008, she declared that she was going back to her roots: "...I don't mean anything grandiloquent, it's something substantial, basic and inner... an atavistic feeling. It involves creating premised on an intimate structure, engaging each activity with all the strength and intensity I can: an exhibition, a text, a conference, an interview, a workshop, etc. Whatever it is. Large or small. The main intention is to work because your gut feeling demands it. The best works are the ones born out of a necessity." (Ana Laura Aláez).
