Cuenca Biennial presents the invited artists of the XIV edition
Jesús Fuenmayor, the curator of the XIV edition of the Biennial of Cuenca, selected thirteen national artists whose workshops he visited in Cuenca, Guayaquil and Quito, which add to the forty international artists invited directly by the curator.
During the months of August and October 2017, the Cuenca Biennial hosted 130 portfolios of Ecuadorian artists that were sent to the curator of the XIV edition, Jesús Fuenmayor. The Venezuelan commissioner preselected 20 folders of national artists whose workshops he visited in Cuenca, Guayaquil and Quito. After this cycle of visits, Fuenmayor chose thirteen names that add to the forty international artists invited directly by the curator. Although the total counts 53 guests as there are several artists who work as a couple or are part of a collective, 45 projects or works to be presented within the official sample, 26 of which are works commissioned expressly for the occasion. This and other details linked to the event will be announced this Thursday at the press conference scheduled by the institution.
Additionally, it will be the occasion when the Biennial presents the official image of the XIV edition, developed by the design and communication team of the Biennial. This visual proposal aims to reflect the concept of "Living structures. Art as a plural experience "proposed by Fuenmayor for the event.
