Call for Historical-Critical Essay. 50 years of the Art Biennial of Medellín

On the occasion of the fifty years of the first Biennial of art in Medellín, and the celebrations related to the fortieth anniversary of the foundation of the newspaper EL MUNDO, the newspaper, with the support of the Ángel-Gómez Foundation, called a contest of Historical / critical essay on the subject: Art biennials and their impact on the art of Medellin and Colombia. The purpose of the contest is to stimulate historical research and critical analysis of artistic phenomena related to the history of art in the city of Medellin and Colombia.

Prizes: Unique prize of $ 2,000,000 (two million pesos) for the winning essay, and publication in the newspaper EL MUNDO. And Honorable Mention with $ 500,000 (five hundred thousand pesos) and publication in the newspaper EL MUNDO.

Delivery date: The essays must be sent with a deadline of August 31, 2018, to the address concursodeensayo@elmundo.com or printed to the address calle 53 nro 74.50, of Medellín Colombia.

In the email or the envelope, the identification data of the author must be attached, indicating name, postal and electronic address, telephone, and identification document. Pseudonymous works are not accepted. The names of the distinguished authors will be published on October 1, 2018.

Jury: The award jury is composed of three professionals from journalism, academia and the arts.

Characteristics of the essay: The essays must not exceed five thousand words (5,000) without counting bibliography and other sources of documentation. The jury will pay special attention to the originality of the approach, the efforts made for the research, and the strength of the conclusion.
