LUQUE AND SILVA’S COMMON MAP LAUNCHES BOMBON + CRISIS

From 06/15/2025 to 07/25/2025
Madrid , Spain

Barcelona’s Bombon gallery and Lima’s CRISIS gallery have opened a collaborative exhibition space in Madrid. This new project will host alternating shows by artists represented by each gallery, while at certain times of the year, they will opt for joint proposals.

LUQUE AND SILVA’S COMMON MAP LAUNCHES BOMBON + CRISIS

This concept gave rise to Mapa común (Common Map), the inaugural exhibition of the space, which emphasizes collaboration and the convergence of shared ideas. The exhibition features work by Agnes Essonti Luque (Barcelona, Spain, 1996), represented by Bombon, and Raúl Silva (Lima, Peru, 1991), represented by CRISIS. Both were finalists in Generaciones 2024, the Fundación Montemadrid competition but beyond this temporal and spatial coincidence, they share common themes: urgency, labor, and the invisible as central elements in their practice.

Created as an specific-project for this occasion, the project explores these themes from distinct yet complementary perspectives. Both artists investigate how narratives are constructed to render labor invisible, despite its fundamental role in shaping everyday life. This invisibility stems from aesthetic frameworks that marginalize the interior and devalue what is not outwardly clean or visually pleasing.

Luque’s work begins with gastronomy, using it to explore kitchens as workspaces and their invisibility within the home. Silva, on the other hand, focuses on immigration and telecommunications as a framework for understanding hidden forms of labor that persist beneath narratives of false sterility.

Their dialogue unfolds across the new space—a joint interpretation developed independently—inviting viewers to reflect on the urgent need to create structures and agents that support these practices in a visual culture that often relegates them to the margins.

Mapa común is on view through July 25 at Bombon + CRISIS, Madera 33, Madrid (Spain).
