ART WEEK 2023 ARRIVES IN BUENOS AIRES

In this fourth edition, Semana del Arte is positioned within the framework of a great artistic calendar with high quality proposals such as Sach Estudios Abiertos, the artists' fair BADA and the contemporary art fair ARTEBA. In addition, the AFFAIR fair will be there for the first time, together with La Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo del Sur and Pinta BAphoto, among other events that take place in the cultural calendar of the city.

Art Week proposes to rediscover the city of Buenos Aires in an innovative way through eight works of public art, winners of a public, open and federal call. They were selected by a jury of specialists: Sebastián Vidal Mackinson, curator and researcher of contemporary art; Verónica Gómez, visual artist and winner of Semana del Arte 2022; and Juan Pablo Vacas, architect and Undersecretary of Urban Landscape.

The winning works of the Federal Call for Entries are located in outstanding locations in the downtown area and the arts District. This initiative enhances two emblematic areas of the city of Buenos Aires.

The winners are: Mariela Vita with Aquí han plantado flores (They planted flowers here) in Plazoleta Juvenilia; Nicolás Martella with El paraíso de los creyentes (The paradise of believers) in Galerías Larreta; Alfio Demestre with Performance Robótica de dibujo (Performance Robotics of drawing), in Mercado de los Carruajes; Renata Molinari with Humor Vítreo (Vitreous Humor) in Galerías Pacífico; Ramiro Quesada Pons with Los intercesores (The Intercessors) at Galería Jardín; Camilo Guinot with Portal at ex Banco de Tokyo; Ana Vogelfang with Muro móviles (Moving Walls) at Sitio Arqueológico La Cisterna at Paseo La Cisterna; and Mariano Giraud with ACF - 202 at Colón Fábrica.

Guided Tours Program

Guided walking tours will be offered to get to know the winning artworks of Semana del Arte. On selected visits, these tours will include the presence of the artists and tours will be organized especially for the elderly and children, as well as accessible visits in LSA (Lengua de Señas Argentina).

In turn, this year there are three circuits to tour the city with an agenda per circuit with all the participating art institutions, fairs and cultural events. The north circuit includes the ArteBA, BADA and AFFAIR fairs, the Edgardo Giménez exhibition at MALBA Museum and the SACH program to visit the workshops of more than 180 artists in the 32 spaces in the neighborhoods of Chacarita, Villa Ortúzar and Parque Chas. The central circuit offers the IV Edition of the Imprevisible Festival, the Forte Festival at ARTHAUS, the Guided Visits program and the different points of the platform for art, culture and thought BIENALSUR. The southern circuit includes a solo exhibition by Alexander Apostol at PROA21, the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, and Interperie, Carlos Gómez Centurión's show curated by Carlos Herrera at the Usina del Arte.
