The De Pont Museum in the Netherlands has acquired an assemble of works by González, seminal figure in Latin American art. The works address the themes of migration, disappearance and collective grief.

Titled Mongrel, this site-specific installation transforms MOAD’s largest gallery into a dynamic interior that evokes domestic space and the artist’s early experiences as a Cuban refugee. A series of twenty-five new drawings created expressly for this exhibition meld a wide variety of images into arresting abstractions of pulsing color and form, while still occasionally revealing their representational sources.

Until January 30^th, 2022, a monographic exhibition of Pablo Atchugarry is on display at the Palazzo Reale in Milan. Vida de la materia (Life of Matter) is the name given to this large exhibition that includes a set of 40 works and the curatorship of art critic Marco Meneguzzo.

Argentina Performance Art, with the support of the Centro Cultural Recoleta, organizes two days of debate, exchange and collective reflection on Argentine Performance Art. This discipline has seen exponential growth, nationally and internationally, both in its visibility and in its circulation and in its impact on the media in recent years. This is why Argentina Performance Art considers it essential to build room for reflection around this practice, focusing on the historicity of the discipline and its incidence today.

The EFG Latin America Art Award, now in its eleventh edition, was created to support the Latin American artists. The award aims to promote the continent's visual arts production and regional fairs among collectors around the world. From the Colombian ARTBO fair, the nominated artist is Federico Ovalles, and from the Brazilian fair SP-Arte, Gustavo Nazareno was nominated for his work “Guiné”.

The City’s Ministry of Culture, together with the Visual Arts area, announced the programming of the Art Week, the event that turns the City into a large open-air contemporary art museum. From October 31 to November 7, more than 35 institutions and spaces in the City of Buenos Aires will be the center of the scene and will invite the public to meet the most innovative works of art, performances, exhibitions, concerts and to enjoy a wide program of activities for all audiences.

Within the Panorama institutional program, this exhibition focuses on aesthetics and artistic practices in and around Barcelona. It comprises a wide range of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, works on paper, video installation, performance, photography and textiles, and is driven by a desire to defend and verify the making of on-site exhibitions as experiences that envelop us as whole sensing bodies in space. As the “notes” of the title suggests, this group exhibition attempts to jot down, to lay out and to connect without seeking to be in any way definitive.

Gallery is the artistic circuit in Buenos Aires with the longest trajectory and with the greatest coverage, including the neighborhoods of La Boca (District of the Arts), Recoleta, Retiro, Palermo and Villa Crespo. Zurich, the No. 1 insurance company in Argentina, accompanied BAphoto with 2 special proposals for its 2021 edition, held between October 13 and 17 at Casa Basavilbaso in-person and with a virtual program.

BAphoto premiered the in-person season in Buenos Aires with its seventeenth edition and celebrated with a fantastic meeting. Artists, gallery owners, curators, collectors and photography lovers came together to exhibit and enjoy the best of photography. The fair featured the outstanding work of curators Francisco Medail, Bárbara Golubicki, Irene Gelfman, Florencia Battiti, Rodrigo Alonso, Verónica Santalla and Celina Marco.

The Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo del Sur (International Contemporary Art Biennial from the South, in English), better known as BIENALSUR 2021 and born in the Tres de Febrero National University, in Argentina, arrived for the second time in faraway Saudi Arabia with “Echoes. A world between the analogic and the virtual”, a collective exhibition. The show will feature 20 artists from Asia, Africa, America and Europe.

Since 2015, Fuera de Foco (Out of Focus) is a solo projects section destined to the exploration of the different procedures, languages ​​and materialities that the photographic medium makes possible. With the aim of providing visibility to new generations of artists, Fuera de Foco invites three Argentine galleries to present an individual proposal, of an installation and experimental nature, promoting a territory open to dialogue with other disciplines that can enrich and generate new experiences aesthetic.

In this long-awaited edition, the outstanding photographer in Artista Homenaje is Lucrecia Plat from Argentina. Curated by Francisco Medail, the exhibition covers a large part of Plat's production in her forty years of work, among which the series of intimate portraits of Alejandra Pizarnik and the nocturnal records of the Buenos Aires elite stand out.

Until February 13^th, 2022, Museo Jumex will present two exhibitions in dialogue; the solo show Sofía Táboas: Gama térmica (Sofía Táboas: Thermal Range), organized by Kit Hammonds, Curator in Chief, and Colección Jumex: Temperatura ambiente (Jumex Collection: Ambient Temperature), curated by the artist Sofía Táboas.

Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani de Palma exhibits “The Archive of Dust: An Ongoing Project”, an exhaustive overview of the fundamental lines that characterize Elena del Rivero’s (Valencia, 1949) work gravitating around the attacks of the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, in New York. The project deals with loss, the collective memory and pain, as well as with the construction of the existential pillars that make up the beliefs and values ​​of society to rethink the future.

Curated by Jaider Esbell, and within the context of the 34^th Bienal de São Paulo, the group exhibition Moquém_Surarî gathers contemporary artworks by indigenous artists. The exhibition at MAM São Paulo will include drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures referring to the visual transformations on the cosmological and the narrative Amerindian thinking.

Voluspa Jarpa’s Syndemic is the winner of the inaugural edition of the Julius Baer Art Prize for Latin American Female Artists, a new biennial award initiated by Julius Baer and The Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá – MAMBO. It is the first of its kind to be held in Latin America, and its mission is to honor the research of outstanding Latin American female artists. Syndemic is a site-specific multimedia project that involves photos, archival documents, videos, maps, sculptures, objects, installation, wallpapers, and lasers that project beyond the Museum’s physical space into the surrounding environment. The term “Syndemic”, from the medical field, is Voluspa Jarpa’s metaphor to analyze the violent social riots that occurred from October 2019 to March 2020 in Chile.

For the first time in its history, the longest running Latin American photography fair that can be visited from October 13 to 17, combines its classic in-person edition with a special online program where national and international art coexist. Located at Casa Basavilbaso, the long-awaited reunion will be complemented by an online program that includes Live Talks, Open Files and guided tours.

Designed to reflect the various aspects of the current transitional experience, the 7th Athens Biennale ECLIPSE aspires to address the viewers’ imagination of potential parallel worlds and futures. ECLIPSE activates a cross-cultural conversation among artistic voices that have historically been pushed to the periphery and orchestrates an experiential shift in art viewing.

The work of Carola Zech, Argentinian artist of German descent, arrived, starting September 25th, at the German Embassy in Buenos Aires. A site-specific intervention, “Al azar del viento” (At the wind’s random will) is curated by Diana Weschler, also of German descent, and can be visited until November 28th as part of BIENALSUR 2021’s expositions.

How to situate the artistic dimension - and with it the reflection on the environment and the human condition - in a natural landscape that dazzles those who inhabit it?

High Line Art presents Insectageddon, a free day-long festival conceived by artist and poet Cecilia Vicuña. As a celebration of insects and call to action to address global insect die-off, Insectageddon will consist of interdisciplinary and interactive performances, poetry readings, workshops, and more throughout the High Line. Taking place on September 25, 2021.

The exhibition places the matter of "ways of living" in the La Boca area, linking works that reproduce utopias and failures of modernity. Curated by Diana Wechsler, Benedetta Casini and Leandro Martínez Depietri, this new exhibition in Buenos Aires brings together the works of artists from the BIENALSUR Open Call and historical and contemporary artists that make up the collections of the Emilio Pettoruti Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, of the Banco Ciudad, the Benito Quinquela Martín Museum and the IIAC-UNTREF Archive.

The memorial of the Cuban artist Arturo Cuenca Sigarreta (1955-2021), held on the same September 21 as his birth, in the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, was a symbolic event, surely the first of many that, after his early death, will finally allow the artistic institutions to recognize the visionary character in the work of this unruly and complex creator, who, like few others, embodied a way of criticizing power, both institutional and political, that did not compromise with convenience.

In the weeks leading up to the fair and as part of the Media Point 2021 space, an Education Cycle in Contemporary Photography will be scheduled that will consist of three masterclasses led by renowned professionals in the photographic field. With the support of Zurich, BAphoto invites the public to approach photography from different perspectives. Each segment lasts 1 hour and a half, and is accesible via Zoom with prior registration.

This is the first mid-career survey of Colombian artist Oscar Muñoz’s work in the United States. Although he has had large-scale retrospectives throughout Europe and Latin America, this exhibition will introduce U.S. audiences to a broad scope of his evolving practice.

The acclaimed Korean artist Kimsooja will inaugurate on Wednesday September 22nd the last part of her trilogy of simultaneous exhibitions through which she landed in Buenos Aires. Chapter 3: Kimsooja. An inner experience arrives at the Korean Cultural Center in the Argentine capital as a part of Bienalsur 2021, the biennial that emerged at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero and that now takes place simultaneously in more than 124 venues, 23 countries and 50 cities around the world, with the participation of about 400 artists.

Gertrudes Altschul (1904–1962) was a pioneering figure in Brazilian modernist photography. Despite being acknowledged in the field in Brazil, her work is known only in specialized circles, having been scantly published and exhibited—something that this exhibition, the first in a museum, and its publication intend to rectify.

This Must Be the Place: Latin American Artists in New York, 1965–1975 is a group exhibition that explores the artworks, performances, and experimental practices of this generation of artists, as well as their involvement in the local art scene. Diversifying the city’s artistic life, these artists helped shape New York into the global art center it is today. The artworks presented in this exhibition are central to understanding the social and political landscape in the Americas and the tensions and bridges between north and south, exploring issues of migration, identity, politics, exile, and nostalgia.

By next Saturday, September 18, visitors will be able to view Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s completed artwork L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped, Paris, 1961-2021. In accordance with Christo’s wishes, the artwork is being completed by his team in partnership with the Centre des monuments nationaux (CMN) and with the support of the Centre Pompidou and the City of Paris.
