New year, new space: Henrique Faria Buenos Aires is enlarged

The new space has a divisible room seven meters high that will allow artists to show larger instalations. Likewise, its backroom space is considerably enlarged and it allows simultaneous samples to be made in a room adjacent to the main one. Mauro Herlitzka, partner at the Henrique Faria New York gallery, points out that "the possibility of having this new space will allow the creation of extension programs, projects and events that enrich the gallery's usual activity, adding new activities within the circuit of galleries in Buenos Aires city". Paz Lucero, director of Henrique Faria Buenos Aires, states that the new space "will allow to show works of great size and versatility that will give the gallery a new dynamic".

This is a decisive step for Henrique Faria Buenos Aires in its commitment to install in the public and the art market the appreciation for the rich history of Argentinian and Latin American conceptual art. In this sense, has put in value the work of pioneers such as Leandro Katz, Horacio Zabala, Guillermo Deisler, Osvaldo Romberg, Carlos Ginzburg, among others. With its proposal, the gallery helped to bridge the gap between that aesthetic and other artists from the 60s aestethics, initially associated with Pop trends such as Marta Minujín, Delia Cancela and Nicolás García Uriburu.

In all this time, Henrique Faria Buenos Aires has also tried to promote a regional vision of conceptualism with collective thematic exhibitions of transversal character, such as Frontera (2017), Poner el cuerpo (2016), America (2015) and Grafías y ecuaciones (2015). Other collective exhibitions focused on very particular scenes that had little or no diffusion in Buenos Aires: Peru (2016), with works by artists from the 70s and 80s, and Montevideo (2017), exposing the conceptual work of Uruguay in the 60s and 70s.

Some of his samples became milestones. This was the case with El ambientalismo en Uriburu (2016), firstly because of the anthological value of its works and the validity of its ecological policy, and also because it turned out to be the last living exhibition of Nicolás García Uriburu. Escrituras, dibujos, ediciones… lecturas (2013) marked the beginning of the work of the gallery with Mirtha Dermisache, artist who had a consecrating year in 2017. Laberinto Minujinda (2013) regained the visibility of Marta Minujín's work in the 80s. In 2015, the artist presented in the gallery the edition of her book Psychedelic Years (Mansalva) with the exhibition of the original pages of Unseen, the underground newspaper. The magnetism of Minujín turned the presentation into a social event.

The gallery also supports the best Argentine contemporary art representing Hernán Marina, Marcela Astorga, Eduardo Santiere, Alicia Herrero and Mauro Guzmán.

All this work will be enhanced now in the new exhibition space that will open in March with a Leandro Katz’s solo show.
