THE NEW CENTRE FOR RESEARCH & PRACTICE’S SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
Closed

The scholarship applications for the certificate programs are open. Applicants must submit a writing sample and a cover letter detailing their intellectual interests and need for financial relief. Applicants from the Global South will be automatically considered for 50 percent of our scholarships. Half of our full scholarship recipients are from the Global South, and half are women.

The New Centre for Research & Practice’s certificate programs intend to complement, enhance and intensify MA and PhD programs from existing accredited colleges and universities, as well as to recognize those enrolled in our seminars to broaden the scope of independent research and practice.

Presently, The New Centre offers certificate programs in Critical Philosophy, Art & Curatorial Practice, History, Design & Worldmaking and Transdisciplinary Research. The award of a graduate-level certificate from The New Centre requires the completion of at least ten one-credit seminar modules, as well as two-credits standing for consultancies with the Organizer, your respective Programmer and the delivery of the final project. Once you participants are accepted as a certificate student, any previously completed seminar module at The New Centre can be applied towards the certificate. Modules are transferable between programs to create a unique plan of study, to be approved by the Certificate Programmer. In addition, a program may require a project to be completed in order for a certificate to be awarded.

Building on the organization’s fundraising campaigns that supported Ukranian and Iranian students in 2022 and 2023, The New Centre is introducing a project-based initiative in response to the Gaza-Israel conflict and in support on an immediate ceasefire. The organization is granting two joint scholarships to two applicants with Palestinian and Israeli backgrounds. They will collaborate on two reaserch projects involving the existing academic programs.

The New Centre ongoing fall/winter 2023-2024 season highlights the works of thinkers such as Gilles Châtelet, Jacques Derrida, Edmund Husserl, and Alfred Sohn-Rethel.
