Y Gallery Celebrates 10 Years

NEW YORK.  On July 28th, 2006, coinciding with Peruvian Independence Day, Y Gallery was established in New York City as an international contemporary art gallery. Ten truly wonderful years later, the gallery celebrates its 10th birthday, along with Peruvian Independence Day on 7/28/2016, with a festive bash in their Lower East Side exhibitions space in partnership with Latin Lover Magazine.

“Y Gallery has grown into a big family. And we are very grateful with everybody that has sustained us in this long run, from the artists themselves, to the critics, the collectors, the curators, the institutions, and the art lovers. Our most important task was, is and will always be, to provide a place of infinite ideas, un-edited, and open to all. Thank you for responding and walking with us, here in New York, and in every country we go to show,” said the Y Gallery team.

Thanks to ongoing support from the local and international art communities, Y Gallery has grown to have a known program in New York City, has developed a strong international presence due to consistent successes at global fairs, and has helped its artists become included in top collections and institutions around the world. But, the best part of all is the gallery’s constant focus on the celebration of the art that has and continues to come through its doors.

Currently on display at Y Gallery is “Dieter Buchhart: The Pursuit of Happiness,” on view through August 6th. For its August show, Y Gallery is excited to present a group show featuring three female painters; Summer Wheat (U.S.), Mie Olise (Denmark), and Manuela Viera-Gallo (Chile). Kicking off the fall season, a Ryan Brown solo exhibition will premiere at Y Gallery in early September.

About Y Gallery

Y Galleryʼs mission is to represent and support primarily emerging and mid-career artists. Located in New York City, from the beginning we have believed in working hand-in-hand with artists to facilitate their evolution, and in turn the advancement of the gallery, growing together and finding common lines of investigation built upon our curatorial decisions, reflected in our group and solo exhibitions, and in our parallel programs of conferences, lectures, book presentations, performances, and offsite site-specific installations. With a strong focus in Latin American art, our goal is to create a space that builds dialogue among different communities. Since its foundation we have expand upon our mission and continue to invite international artists who investigate and reflect upon the condition of diversity using all types of media, presenting exhibitions, most of them site-specific projects with a cohesive vision. The curatorial stance has been consistent in showing critical discourses with poetic undertones.
