MARCO celebrates its twenty-five years old

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey will meet its first 25 years on Tuesday June 28 with the joy of sharing art with regiomontano public.

MARCO celebrates its twenty-five years old

Considered an icon of Monterrey, MARCO is one of the most important cultural centers of Latin America. It opened for the first time with the great exhibition Myth and Magic in America: The eighties on 28 June 1991. It was followed by memorable shows such as Mexico: Splendors of Thirty Centuries, 1992, Leonora Carrington: A Retrospective, 1994, Sculptures Louise Bourgeois: the elegance of irony, 1995, Fernando Botero, 1999, twentieth Century: Great Mexican teachers, 2001-2004 Gabriel Orozco, 2001, Frida, 2007, Antony Gormley, 2008-2009 Pixar: 20 years of animation, 2009, Ron Mueck, 2011 and Stanley Kubrick, 2015, to mention some of the more than 200 exhibits presented.
To date, more than four million people visited exhibitions, participated in workshops and attended their events. MARCO has been and continues to be a plural space where artistic creation, education, reflection and diffusion of the arts.
MARCO has prepared a calendar of activities to celebrate with the public 25 years of being part of the community and presenting internationally renowned artists as well as countless events, activities and workshops which MARCO has endorsed its commitment and mission.

TOMÁS SARACENO. CIENTO SESENTA Y TRES MIL AÑOS LUZ
In keeping with its anniversary, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey presents the first major exhibition of Argentine artist Tomas Saraceno (Argentina, 1973) in Latin America. His work is characterized by dissolving the boundary between scientific thinking and various creative processes, achieving remarkable pieces of technical refinement and sensitivity. Magical Saraceno generated environments with the help of specialists from different disciplines ranging from the construction of impossible spaces, the reference to the nature of the cosmos, molecular biology and the laws of physics.
