Argentinean curator and Professor Inés Katzenstein will become the first Director of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute for the Study of Art in Latin America. In addition, Katzenstein was named curator of Latin American art at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA).

Katzenstein, one of the main international references of Argentinean art in recent years, established her career with outstanding performances in the local art scene, as curator of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA) between 2004 and 2008, and director of the Artists Programs of the Di Tella University.

In 2004, she was the editor of "Listen, Here, Now! Argentine Art of the sixties: writings of the Avant Garde ", a fundamental anthology on the Argentine art of the 60s, which included essays and documents. The publication was in charge of the New York museum.

That institution had already shown a marked opening to the art of this continent during the management of the Venezuelan art historian Luis Pérez-Oramas in the Brodsky Star Department of Latin American Art, a position that, after 14 years, he left in mid-2017. The arrival of Katzenstein will deepen this line, strengthening the space as a Latin American platform of privilege in the heart of New York, with the impulse that the recently created Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute for the Study of Latin American Art will add, which will work within MoMA.
