Artemisa Gallery presents Reverberating Aesthetics

Julián Teran has a deep interest in the surfaces of life from the geological-scenic, to the animal-human. In the words of the artist, “impulses originating in the invisible depths leave their footprint surface inside out." Through such topographic studies, the artist’s intent is to reveal what lies beneath the visible surface. Teran analyzes various topographies of land and deconstructs the maps of volcanoes, stars, galaxies and forming islands. Ultimately, Teran internalizes this data as he translates and extracts the essence of natural landscapes through the layers of carefully hand drawn lines and patterns.

Through exposing deep trenches of earth’s inner layers and elevated mountainous surfaces, Teran’s landscape drawings capture earth’s entire dimensionality. His work dialogues with natural landscapes and its rhythm creates metaphorical connections and reverberation aesthetics throughout. Through delicate and meticulous tracings, the drawings come alive to create a musicality that echoes throughout in in an illusory 3 dimensional map of terrain.

Julián Terán was born in 1977 in La Plata, Argentina and currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. His work has been the subject of many international notable gallery shows and museum exhibitions includingSilences at Artemisa Gallery, New York (2014),  Happy Together at Centro Cultural San Martin, Buenos Aires (2010), Proyecto Paraguas at Museo Municipal Urbano Poggi, Rafaela, Santa Fe (2003), Premio Philips Art Expression at Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires (2002), Puente-Circuitos (2007) and Mi casa (2011) at Museo de Bellas Artes Dr. J.R.
