The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes regrets the death of Argentine artist Rómulo Maccio, and extends its condolences to his family and friends at this sad moment, "the museum said in a statement, referring to one of the most important players in the history of Argentine art from the second half of the twentieth century.

"Romulo Maccio was one of the most original artists of his generation and a leader of Argentina's cultural scene over the past 50 years. Those who had the opportunity to meet his death sadden us very much, because we will miss his presence, his comments always lucid and uncompromising, and his bold and unprejudiced look. Fortunately leave us a blunt work, which prints a unique mark on the history of contemporary art, "said Andrés Duprat, director of the MNBA.

The remains of Romulo Maccio will be veiled Saturday March 12, from 11 to 20 in Room 24 of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, 1473 Avenue of Libertador in Buenos Aires
